Found Deceased MS - Emalee Walters, 37, Forest County, end July 2019

Posted on the “Where is Emalee Walters?" Facebook page by Emalee’s brother yesterday:
“I received a update yesterday regarding my sister Emalee Walters. I tried to reach as much family as I could to notify them before today, to give them time to learn from a loved one.

Forrest County Sheriffs Office believe she is deceased and have charged a suspect(the last person she was known to be with) with "Murder 1st". They have not found her remains but have gathered enough evidence and completed a "Normal behavior Change"( Emalee did not get her medicine or see her doctors as normal.) to approach the DA for charges. I believe they hope for him to give up her location.

I would like to thank everyone who has assisted me and my family and please keep them in your prayers. I cant express my emotions at this time and I'm not a very open man, but please reach out to me if anyone has any questions or if I can help in anyway way.”

Thank you for the update @inmyhumbleopinion. From her social media, this woman had a difficult life, living in a remote area on generator power without consistent access to clean water. No one deserves to be murdered, but her circumstances before her presumed death make this case all the more tragic.

On the same day, SB posted the individual is the last one to see Emalee alive (I hope this is OK to post as her brother has stated the suspect is “the last person she was known to be with”).

FCSO public information officer Scott Lees said deputies located the skeletal remains in southeast Covington County in the Sanford community around 3 p.m. Wednesday.

The search began after the sheriff’s office, in consultation with the 12th Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office, followed up on information it received regarding the possible location of a body belonging to a missing person.

The Jones County Sheriff’s Office assisted in extracting the remains, which were sent to medical examiners for identification.

Lees said the remains are believed to be those of a woman who has been missing since last summer.

The investigation is ongoing.

I think you may be onto something. Since the DA's office was involved, it sounds like the suspect may have given up the location of her remains.

I think it’s a big possibility it’s her.
If you look at a comment on the link below, the specific months mentioned matches her ‘last seen’ month.

The members of the FCSO are committed and determined to seek out, to the best of our ability, criminal suspects while utilizing the full resources of our agency and as needed, the resources and personnel of our sisters and brothers in other agencies as was evidenced in this case, to bring those accused of criminal wrongdoing to judicial review.

Glad that they finally got him (it sounds like he got a lighter sentence in exchange for giving up the location of her body; it’s still more than the minimum for Murder 2, so kudos to the DA), and that the family gets to bring her home.
