Oooh has he been ruled out as Matagorda County John Doe? (bit skeptical bc I can't find any indication he wore glasses but otherwise could be a match) The jaw is kind of similar but wouldn't put too much stock into recon since he's meant to be less than 25 and they make him look middle aged.

I'm so confused. How can his half brother have been found with his ID and possessions if they never even met? And the fact he was later shot by police in Canada....surely this is highly suspicious?

Many strange factors in this case. How was it that he had a very expensive Rolex Watch with someone else's name engraved on it? If his "half brother" was killed in an Ontario, Canada shoot-out, what were the circumstances and what gun was he using? What of Jeffrey's ID which was found on the dead Half brother in Canada?

What persons did Jeffrey hang out with in Hattiesburg, MS? Rather than this being a completely random disappearance or abduction, it was more likely something planned out and he was specifically targeted.

Is it possible that Jeffrey Hegwood was "disappeared" because he knew too much about some murders that had taken place?

I can't see them. Do they mention the identity of his brother? I found something about a guy, Barry Earl Rubenstein, but I'm not sure if that's Jeffrey's half-brother.

A retired city police officer who died recently was injured during a struggle with an armed man in the parking lot of a north-end nursing home.

I'm sorry you cannot see them, you are supposed to be able to (?). Nothing in those articles identified the shooter who was killed. The article did state that the van attached to the shooter had a Mississippi license plate.

I did just do a quick search and found the excerpt below in The Sault Star, 27 Aug 1980, pg 21 which indicates he was the 1/2 brother of Mr. Hegwood. The article also states he was wanted in Charlotte, NC, for jumping bail on a June 19 offense.
