I don't remember how to escape actual ascii in HTML or that wouldn't be so primitive. The tool boxes on those vehicles are on the front end of the rollback platform. Which suggest to me the rear end of the car was near the back of the cab.

Just wondering if you believe more than one accelerant was involved? Arson/fires are not my area of expertise. And I know nothing about what happens to people or cars during a fire. I leave these technical questions to those of you with the knowledge

IMO I think it's very possible two distinct accelerants were used, one gasoline, for the vehicle. Two, a less volatile substance for Jessica. I don't think she would have survived as long as she did if gasoline were used on her personally (and control of Jessica would have been harder to maintain). I don't think the car would have been as burned out as it was if a simple combustible like lighter fluid was used. That car got REALLY hot really fast, and there really isn't much in the way of complimentary fuel on the inside of it. You have seats, batting, and plastic door panels. A lot of accelerant was used in the vehicle IMO.

I've pulled burned wrecks before not in homicide cases though. I've never seen a vehicle so close to a total burnout like that.

I'm pretty certain she was murdered outside of the vehicle, from start to finish.

I thought the nose of the car was to the tree, but I could be wrong. Seems to me I read that, or saw it addressed during a presser and now I can't remember why I think it was nose to tree.

What I see is opposite of what you're saying.

the car's front end is facing the cab of the wrecker.

If you look at this picture (a little broader aspect), notice the orientation and location of both the toolbox and the visible lettering

The Jeer Dan lettering is at the front edge of the rollback, the tool box as well. The trailing edge of the toolbox is present near the rear end of Jessica's vehicle.

The front of the car had to be facing the tree. It makes no sense to back the car in. Pictures at another site show that the tree was heavily burnt up to about 12' on the side the car was near it. Front end damage does not indicate the car actually hit the tree, only being very close to it. The front of Jessica's car also appears to have extensive discoloration on the hood from burn damage, while the rear trunk portion does not.

The caller possibly knows the fire chief and wanted to remain anonymous. While working as a reporter at a small town newspaper in Mississippi I had a rapport with the sheriff, deputies, fire chief, etc. I mentioned to the fire chief shady neighbors that stunk up my neighborhood burning furniture among other things-which is illegal in the city limits. I didn't report it because I didn't want trouble with them. He gave me his cell phone number, assured me I would remain anonymous. They don't burn their trash anymore.
My town is small but much bigger than Courtland, which in IMO, makes it even more likely someone would feel comfortable calling a fire chief rather than a fire department.

It's not a duh post, it's a valid point. Although I'm thinking if I saw a fire like that my first impulse would be to dial 911. Isn't that information kept confidential, you know on a need to know basis? Then again, that would probably be extending more trust to that local LE agency than I'd be willing to extend.

We don't because it has not been verified anywhere else except the rumor mills. The rumors are interesting, however.

What if the claim of a party was a ruse to get Jessica to a location where events surrounding her death began to unfold.

Who if anyone missed work for a few hours or even a day or two after JC's murder?
Did LE park a car near the crime scene and watch who ----besides JCs family--visited the crime scene/ including those those who left poinsettias?


Something about all these intertwined lives stinks... moo
