Found Deceased MS - Jimmie "Jay" Lee, 20, University of Mississippi student, drove away from apartment, Oxford, 8 Jul 2022 *MISTRIAL - Hung Jury*

Does it seem to everyone that the jury didn't deliberate that long? Was the 1 juror just dead set on not guilty and that was it?
In a murder trial in California ongoing (the victim is Bob Lee) the jury has been deliberating for 6 days!

I feel like that is the case.
That one juror had their mind made up.
The first question came like an hour into deliberations which hardly gave time to even read the charges and start a discussion.

I guess if someone says - there's absolutely no way I will change my mind no matter what, then what can anyone else do?

Wow @JessG78
I had been trying to keep up at work and at night and wanted to have an actual visual of this and you nailed it. Thanks!

Devastating.
Hopefully they will try the case again.
I was just reading this online and came to the thread to check what this really means, how on Earth can a mistrial be declared on this when this case is crystal clear in terms of motive and modus operandi? This creature did not want others to know he is gay and he thought killing Jay Lee was the right thing to do to hide that. I don't understand how a unanimous verdict could not be reached on this. Surreal.

I have followed this case from the beginning and I honestly cannot believe it was a hung jury. I have a question to pose - does anyone think Herrington's family knew something? Where in the world is the body?

I would think it weird they had absolutely no idea what he was doing.

When all this came to light, would they not have naturally asked him what he was doing that day when he was gone with the box truck at night?

I’m sure his behavior that day differed from his normal behavior in at least some way, that in hindsight must seem suspicious.

I’m not implicating them or saying they did know something or helped him cover it up, but they sure aren’t encouraging him to tell the truth. They are turning a blind eye and doing what they can to help him stay out of jail.

With the mistrial, there’s another chance at justice, a chance for the State to look at how their case could have improved, a chance to find Jay Lee. It seems most likely that the time his phone was left at his parents house was the time he disposed of the body.

He did the same thing when he was dumping the car, left the cell phone at his apt. If you analyze that pattern of behavior, a conclusion can be made that when he was doing things that directly tied him to Jay Lee, he did not carry his phone.

They really need to zone in on that timeframe and the possible places he could have gone within that time frame.

I hate that he gets to spend the holidays with his family, but I hope the second time around he won’t be walking out of the courtroom into the free world.

MOO

I've been on a jury where this happened. No amount of anything was going to change the one juror's mind. He ignored all of the rules of law.
