This is absolutely devastating. I'm hoping for the best but I'm unfortunately expecting the worst. LGBTQ2S+ people (source: myself being a queer transgender man) are always very aware that there are horribly bigoted people out there. I genuinely hope that this wasn't an awful case of Jimmie letting his guard down and being tricked or manipulated into a dangerous situation. Plus add being black, very active in his community, and femme presenting, I'm so worried that this isn't going to end well.

Sending all of my love to Jimmie and his family and friends.

A Grenada man faces a murder charge in connection to the case of Jimmie “Jay” Lee who went missing last week, the Oxford Police and University of Mississippi Police announced via social media Friday.

“Shelton Timothy Herrington Jr., 22, from Grenada, MS, has been charged with murder,” the social media post from the Oxford Police Department states. “A bond has not been set at this time.”

Not unexpected considering the details of this case.....but still terrible news. I feel just awful for his family.

I don’t understand when people do things like this. Maybe it’s because I’ve never had the thought of murdering someone, but do people really think they will get away with things like this? Occasionally these things go unsolved, but most people aren’t as smart or good with covering tracks as they think they are.

I checked out his FB page, he posted just a couple days ago with a family his company had helped move homes. Seems he owned a moving company.

Mind boggling to me, but I guess that’s a good thing that I’m not able to understand it.

I think the news has his name wrong, seems like it’s Sheldon. Seems as if he had a nice family as well that are now thrown in the middle of this.

Damn it, damn it. DAMN it.

Jay was a good man who deserved a GOOD life. He wanted to help people. I'm so angry, in the deepest part of my soul, that we tend to lose some of the best of our kind to terrible acts like this.

I feel you 100%.
Like I said before on this thread, I got a feeling they killed Jay over who he was. It is yet to be seen whether that relates to his sexual and/or gender identity, or the jealousy this person may have because of Jay's intelligence, wit, and charisma.

My heart breaks for his family, especially his dad and sister.

This has got to be such a nightmare for everybody that loves him. My heart absolutely shattered for his loved ones when when saw the update.

*I’m dazed, confused and angry! I feel sick hearing of this arrest.
