Great minds think alike! Was going to post this, but I hope he gets his name back.

Death certificate says he was cremated. I hope to God they kept a DNA sample. He looks so young in those photos :(

A lot of jurisdictions seem to be doing that these days. I think DNA was more common in the 90s but who knows for sure as NamUs keeps that info to pro users.

I spoke with a detective regarding the possible ID of this John Doe. I will hear back within the week or so.

Can you share any more detail? I was watching all the storms happening in eastern MS today and decided to search cases in the area, stumbling upon this.

Sure thing. I am likely wrong though.

I submitted the possible suggestion that he might have been the fugitive Wei Woo from California.

Something that stood out to me was this statement from Detective Vega in 2010 when there was renewed interest in trying to identify him in 2010 and 2012.

In September 2010, Detective Steve Vega of the Burlingame Police re-opened the investigation. He began looking through Woo's background, trying to identify places he might be hiding out and people he may be seeking refuge with.

Wherever he is, "Woo is known to have worked in the restaurant industry. It's all he knows," says Detective Vega. He may be working as a waiter, busboy cook or even a manager for restaurants or karaoke bars that pay their staff under the table.

Mr Woo fled California after murdering Can Lau at 2am on May 10th, and this Doe was found at approx. 6pm on May 11th. It's super tight but the timeline does fit. It's very tight though. I think its close to 28-29 hours from California to Mississippi. But the statement about working in kitchens under the table plus the time frame plus the possible visual likeness all intrigued me. Hence my submission to Detectives. However I will say this, after looking at other photos I'm not so sure this is a match. But the photo of the John Doe visibly wearing a chef's outfit, combined with the available information on Mr Woo had both myself and the Burlingame detective intrigued. So he is looking into this and said he would get back to me within the next week or so.

I also am wondering about Toan Dinh Nguyen, and have been thinking of submitting him as well. He was one of Oklahoma's Most Wanted fugitives in the 90's, he was wanted for two counts of murder.
On September 5, 1991, Tony Burch and Christopher Childers went with Tony's girlfriend to the home of her ex-boyfriend, Toan Nguyen to retrieve some belongings. Authorities in Oklahoma City say that Toan confronted the three and allegedly shot Tony and Christopher in the head, killing both men. One of the man had been carrying Toan's 8-month old child in a child seat who was uninjured but would have witnessed the double shooting. Toan has been on the run ever since.

But to be honest, I thought he might be the Asian John Doe found in Maryland and sent that suggestion off instead. Anne Arundel County Police Department has received my suggestion and is now looking into this possibility.

Image Comparison of Toan Ngyuen vs Lothian John Doe 1993

On November 16th, 1993 at approximately 15:56, the body of an Asian male was found in a wooded area on Lower Pindell Road in the Lothian area of Anne Arundel County. A check of all the police departments in the Baltimore and Washington area for missing persons reports failed to develop anyone matching the description of the victim.

I've sent in my own theory. I think that this person was reported missing out of California a few months prior. The John Doe in photos looks southeast Asian to me. I'll see what happens with the tip and follow up in a week or two.

Maryland has fingerprints but they were difficult to get in contact with.

Actually my theory was that this was Thoeun Peng. I used to live in Fresno, and I immediately thought that the Meehan John Doe resembled many of the Hmong, Mien and Cambodian people who came to the United States as a result of the "Cambodian boat people" who entered the United States following the end of the Vietnam war.

Meehan, Mississippi is close to Interstate 40, which could have accounted for Peng being in Mississippi. I know from a Mien friend of mine - who came to the United States following the end of the Vietnam war - that the Hmong/Mien/Cambodian population in the 1980s and 1990s was very migratory within the United States with populations spread out in such far flung places as Minneapolis, New Orleans, Boston, Sacramento, etc.

I sent a message about this to the Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Department, along with the Mississippi Analysis and Information Center, also known as a law enforcement "fusion center" which coordinates tips and information across multiple jurisdictions. I received no reply from either organization.

I also sent a message to the Fresno Police Department, asking them to specifically contact the missing persons team. They did reply, and thanked me for the tip.

I am assuming that there is no DNA/dentals/fingerprints for Peng. I am also assuming that the Meehan John Doe will only have DNA only after the body is exhumed (if that's possible).

I would encourage anyone who has a tip or theory about this case to make sure that they also contact the Mississippi Analysis and Information Center in regards to Meehan John Doe.

Is the autopsy report still available through NamUs? I can't find it.
