Did the father go looking for Myra before or after she was reported missing?

I believe I read somewhere (so don't quote me) that he went out on a 4 wheeler looking for her. If I remember right, it was before they reported her missing.

RT51 - I think you mean that you will not condemn (rather than condone) the parents, correct?
That's the meaning I took from your post anyway. :seeya:

Mariel - I don't think we know that. Just when they "realized" she was missing.
So likely as soon as they realized it, either while someone else called LE or before they were called.
I also heard the 4 wheeler part, but I don't think it was specific on time.

Gregory Lewis said the family searched the house up and down and then he drove his 4-wheeler around the neighborhood looking for her.
He said the family's dogs, and the dogs used by police, picked up Myra's scent, which ended at the road.

Moms who work, leave their newborns that long every day. Also, I have known plenty of people who go on a girls night, shopping day, pampering day, etc...a few months after the baby is born and more predicable. I could have easily been out of the house all day when my son was 2 months old. He was easy to care for.

I find it sad that people think a child being at home with a parent, is "leaving" the child. It's not a babysitter, it's the baby's FATHER. Parent, caregiver. If you can't leave the house and leave them with dad...there is an issue there! (I'm just talking in general, not pointing this at you!)

THANK YOU!! I had to leave my older two to go to work, in the care of my mother, when they were around 6 weeks old!! Sometimes we have no choice.
And yes... if the baby was tended by the father, it's not like she left it with a total stranger. Some dads are just as capable of tending to a newborn as the moms are. A few may be even better!!

No news? :( I'm shocked by the lack of interest and information in the media and in public, even the facebook page is very quiet.

With all those kids in the house you would think one of them would have seen her 'wander' off. If mum saw the kids go inside and then they went out to play as stated in an article up thread I would have thought she would have been noticed. Kids usually can't wait to go and tell mum or dad when a younger sibling has done something they shouldn't! One article stated it was when dad was making lunch for the kids. That would be before 2:00 pm I would think, so is it more like four hours before missing report? Or maybe it was dinner and it was misreported!!
I defiantly think we are not privy to all the info!

Please be safe little one.

The link is just video to an interview by the newspaper from yesterday that has already been linked here. The same basic article was in my paper this morning. They do confirm that the cars on the property were the first places searched and that the family searched for her an hour before calling the SO. He also says they brought in additional K9s yesterday, leading me to believe that they may have some searching on Sunday. They may have had to call them in from somewhere and were waiting on them to arrive. They also mention 3 agencies searching, including MS Wildlife, Game & Fish. There was no mention at all of FBI, as had been mentioned on the live newscast of our NBC affiliate that I had seen yesterday.

How many children were there, does anyone know? I know the newborn, and the "sister" she went into the house with. I've read "several" children were in the home at the time.

Were adults coming and going and picking up and dropping off children? Remember that case not too long ago of a missing child from a family/unregistered day care, someone came and left during the day and the child had crawled into their trunk and suffocated?

I'm local and frustrated, too. However I don't think it's lack of interest. The story has been on every newscast that I've seen and in the newspaper. My daughters are in college two hours away and they've seen Myra's picture on the electronic billboards out and about. I think that the information is just so basic and unchanging that every story that you see reads just like the last one. The article in today's paper is basically what I read online yesterday and what was reported last night on the 6:00 news.

There was a prayer vigil held last night in Jackson that was briefly covered by the tv stations. There were no interviews.

The front page has been dominated by the sudden and unexpected death of Jackson's mayor, who died of natural causes. Special elections & controversy are about to take over our news.

Sorry I should have elaborated, as you can see I am very far from local. I'm just going on twitter and national media, compared to other cases I expected to hear more by this morning. I could tell by the photos of the searches that locally it was huge.

Oh, no apologies necessary! I hope I didn't sound snarky. Didn't meant to if I did. I'm a little frustrated myself. It should have been on the front page this morning but instead they had a local dance studio reality show underneath the headlines about the mayor. Myra was page 3. I think it's because there is nothing new, but she should still be on the front page. :scared::banghead:

Oh no no, didn't take it that way, not at all! :loveyou:

Oh, sweet little Myra. I'm holding out hope and praying you are OK, but when I look at your precious little picture, my heart tells me your innocent presence is no longer here. I want to be wrong!! Prove me wrong, sweet Myra!!

Praying for some answers!! Anything!!

In the link above:
Myra's father, Gregory Lewis, said he noticed she was missing about noon, but the other children told him the toddler was with her mother. He realized Myra was gone when his wife came home about 3 p.m.

Lewis said the family searched the house up and down and then he drove his 4-wheeler around the neighborhood looking for her. The family called police about 4 p.m.

So, was she last seen at 10 or 11? I thought the police believed she was abducted, now I am reading the family thinks she was abducted and the FBI/police believe anything is possible.

I wonder why the children thought she was with the mother if they all walked into the home together as the mom drove away. Also, has it been stated where the mom was from 11-3? She said she went grocery shopping...not errands, so I would conclude that would not take four hours. Maybe it is a bad choice of words. Not placing fault, just not understanding. I leave my family for errands for four hours all the time, but not for groceries, that is my point.

I agree that it's likely a bad choice of words. When I go get "groceries" that typically means I am out getting everything thing we need. The grocery store, costco, and any other store that I need something from. That easily takes me half the day. To me, it sounds more like she was shopping in general, rather than just going to one grocery store.
