:luv:little Myra.... We all want you to be found and brought home.
Everyday when I see my grandkids and toddler cousins I think about you.

Authorities are growing frustrated that leads aren't panning out in the search for a Madison county toddler missing for nearly two weeks.

Investigators thought they had a big break in the case after reports that 2 year-old Myra Lewis was spotted at a Memphis motel this week turned out to be incorrect.

The FBI is now offering a $20,000 for information that leads to information about the little girl’s whereabouts.

Meantime, officials are holding the toddler's mother in jail on unrelated charges. And her family believes the sheriff’s department is trying to pressure her to reveal what she knows about Myra’s disappearance.

"Yesterday they held her in interrogation for 8 hours," said Martha Sanders, Lewis’s mother.

Sanders read from a prepared statement accusing the sheriff’s department of violating her daughter's constitutional rights.

"She has a right to plead the 5th. Her rights are not being read to her she is being held for anything to do with her baby."

Sanders says she doesn't understand why Lewis is still in jail after her family paid $500 to bail her out on the probation violation charge.

"Now we can't get our money back and then they put a hold on her."

Authorities tell us the hold was placed on Lewis by the Mississippi department of corrections, because of the original welfare fraud charge that lead to Lewis' probation.

She just did a food stamp fraud. It’s not like she's a criminal,” Sanders said. “She’s no threat to society."

With her 2 year-old daughter missing for nearly two weeks, her family says the mom of a new born son doesn't belong in jail.

"It's time to let her out so she can take care or her kids,” And

Family friend Gloria Nason added, “A mother in jail like that and she has a child missing that's a lot on her right now.”

Lewis could be forced to remain behind bars for another 10 days before her March 24th court appearance.

Why should a mother of a missing child even want to plead the fifth?? IMO, her relatives are not helping by speaking out...

Bolded because this is STANDARD procedure. The $500 they posted was for the firearms charge, but the violation of probation is a different change under a different jurisdiction. I believe that Madison County will have to extradite her back to the MDOC. I mentioned earlier that in a different but neighboring county (Hinds), a person I am aware of had to wait 4 months to get a court hearing for the violation.

But a bigger question, (I have been feeling a good bit of sympathy for mom.) WHY would you want to "plead the 5th if your child were missing???

I would be telling them everything I knew. I would be driving them crazy with questions about where they searched and begging for more help.

And I hate to say so, but I saw this coming. Officials have spend so much time and money and effort on this, and now it's going to go toward a lawsuit?

Honestly, I expected a different kind of lawsuit, but I saw it coming still.

If I had a missing child, they would have to sew my mouth shut for me to stop talking. I'd tell them the color underwear I was wearing, if that would help. What on earth is going on?

I find it a little sad that the family is worried about getting money back, when a 2 year old is STILL missing.

I really pray this child is alive and no one she knows knows anything, which I don't believe. I have to keep sitting on my fingers and practice deep breathing because so much stuff I am reading is really irritating me and making me mad. Stuff that had nothing to do with her being missing, is making me mad.

I don't know why people feel the need to speak or write on SM sometimes. It only makes things worse. My friend is on a case where I live....according to the news, very young child died in a fire by playing with matches or a lighter and mom was in the next room. She has been blabbing everywhere, as is her friends and family about what a great mom she is and she did nothing wrong, DcFS shouldn't have taken her other kids and she is going to sue them....blah, blah blah. I literally was sick to my stomach hearing the child died and then hearing how the mother feels SHE is the victim! Oh, and her whole fb is selfies of her instead of her beautiful babies. Sorry for the total O/T rant.

My point is sometimes less is more because every word that is spoken is dissected and perception is reality.

Where did you read lawsuit? I didn't see that.

I should clarify that people say constantly that LE violate their rights, which is typically not true, but when they are pissed. But that doesn't equal a lawsuit. Just curious if I missed something.

I couldnt agree more, those are the 2 things that stood out to me too. Where is the "the mother will do anything to find her daughter, we want to find her, here is her pic again" etc etc

Was replying to this question, Hockeymom4.

SAY WHAT? Lawsuit?
Do they not see how hard LE is working to find this precious baby?
And to say mom is not a criminal because she "just did a food stamp fraud?" I hope this is not a trend throughout this family to not take accountability for their actions. Food stamp fraud is criminal. Being a felon with a gun is criminal. I don't see where her rights are being violated. She was on probation in possession of a firearm. She violated probation. I'm sure she has been read her rights. She's not a threat to others? I can't tell. Why did she still feel the need to possess a gun knowing she wasn't supposed to have it?

Although I don't know what it is, something is not right here.

They are worried about $500 (I'm not downplaying that this might have cause a financial strain on this family). There is a 20,000 reward. Tell what you know and get more than your money back! That is a huge family. Someone in that family knows something. I would be screaming from the rooftops. Facebook, twitter, calling every news station, radio. For them to have so many family members and several to have Myra's picture as their profile pic they are conspicuously quiet when it matters. My other thought is maybe there are quite a few family members that don't believe Myra was taken and that is the reason behind their silence. To not cause a rift in the family.

As I'm sure everyone here knows the 5th amendment protects against wait for it..... SELF INCRIMINATION. Smh.

Right ! " She just did a food stamp fraud'' .......said in public, out loud and on record.

so many days have gone by without a solid lead to where Myra is. Everything that the family is doing is focusing more on the mom being in jail than on Myra being MISSING. None of their actions are helping with their public perception.
SOMEONE do the right thing and tell the world where poor Myra is.

So if Mom is being held on Food Stamp Fraud (the DHS hold on her release) why would she plead the fifth. It would seem more reasonable to plead the fifth about the gun violation that landed her in jail.

I APPLAUD the LE for exactly what they are doing. I hope the family keeps talking. I hope Mom is broken down to tell everything she knows. This innocent child deserves to be found no matter what her current status is. And there are beginning to be comments on FB that are just downright inappropriate. Get ready websleuther's....they think Mom's rights are being violated now....My prediction is that the race card will be next.

In regards to how happy and well kept Myra looked...there are plenty of people that I know that we're brought up in a not so favorable environment and you would never know by the way they dressed and the way they presented themselves. There are lots of bad things that happen when people snap or think only of themselves. JonBenet Ramsey???????

I have a good feeling this cute little girl will be found alive and unharmed, praying I'm right

Just?? A lot of people don't look at that as a minor crime. The "attitude" and threats of a lawsuit and minimizing the charges are going to cause a lose of support for the family - not the child - but the family (IMO). We have seen situations like this in the past with babies missing. I hope the baby is found soon but this looks like its going down the road of many other missing baby cases.
By the way - did anyone watch NG last night - it was an in depth review of baby Ayla Reynolds. Tragic.
