"Getting a phone call like that is a mother's worst nightmare"

"The last time I heard his voice was yesterday at 6:59. He was checking up on me," says Liquori Tate's sister, Alonte.

She said her brother, Hattiesburg police officer Liquori Tate, was always checking on her. Always looking out for her.

"After he graduated, he moved to Hattiesburg to be closer to me," said Alonte Tate.

Minutes after that Saturday phone call, Officer Tate and his partner, Officer Benjamin Deen stopped a vehicle in downtown Hattiesburg, their pursuit of the law ending in gunfire.

"Getting a phone call like that is a mother's worst nightmare," said Liquori Tate's mother, Youlander Ross.

Ross says she knew Liquori wanted to be a police officer from a very young age.

Alexander booked into the Forrest County Jail where she awaits her initial appearance.

I certainly wasn't expecting to see the arrest numbers keep going up. Makes me wonder how many people total are involved and those left to be arrested. This just gets sadder to learn how many have been considered involved. Such senseless killing of two men sworn to protect these people and now we are only left with many lives destroyed. Someone needs to get that smile off her face because she has nothing to be smiling about.
