Hattiesburg police seek missing teen; he may be with former teacher

Hattiesburg police are looking for 16-year-old Oscar O'Neal II, who was reported missing around 7 a.m. Monday.

His mother said her son was last seen around 1 a.m. at his home.
O'Neal is believed to be with Nicole Jackson, 30, of Purvis, a former teacher at Earl Travillion Attendance Center.
She surrendered to police on April 10 for a charge of sexual battery in a position of trust or authority.
Her arrest came as part of an investigation into allegations of sexual misconduct. The investigation has been ongoing since mid-March, when details of an alleged inappropriate relationship with a student were reported to police.

Jackson was booked into Forrest County Jail, where she was released on $10,000 bond.
Hattiesburg Police Department spokesman Ryan Moore said O'Neal and Jackson may be traveling in a dark blue Chevy Impala with Mississippi license plate FRA-4454.
There is an active warrant for Jackson’s arrest, Moore said.
Anyone with information on O'Neal or Jackson's whereabouts is asked to call Hattiesburg police at 601-544-7900 or Metro Crime Stoppers at 601-582-7867.

I can't share Social media but the family is all over this. IMO. I hope he gets home soon and safe.

Jackson had worked with the Forrest County School District for several years, officials said.

Based on her Facebook profile, Jackson is married with at least one child.

In Mississippi, the age of sexual consent is 16.

However, state law prohibits a person in a position of authority, including a teacher, from engaging in sexual penetration with a person under the age of 18.

Anyone with information about Oscar's whereabouts is urged to contact The Hattiesburg Police Department at 601-545-4500.

Jackson resigned and surrendered to police after authorities investigated reports of an inappropriate relationship with a student. I agree. Have we become so numb to this kind of thing that we/media just pass it off? This child's/young man's family is frantic and yet nothing. Prayers he will be found safe soon.

Man, so crazy. I couldn't imagine my son with a adult teacher but if the love was real. I would try to accept it. I guess, being a mom. I would have to listen to him and then decide what actions to take.

seriously, she's a child molester IMO. She is using her power as a teacher/leader to take advantage of this young man/BOY. His decision making has no play in this, lets not forget he is also missing. Not buying into HIS CHOICE thing. She got him to leave his family, that is the bottom line, even if he was the one to say "hey, lets leave" shes the adult he is the kid, she is WRONG. Can't see any other option. sorry!

Family speaks as search continues for teen believed to be with former teacher

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - The search continues for a missing 16-year-old who is believed to be with a former Forrest County teacher charged with sexual battery.

Oscar's family believe the two are on the run in what they are calling an apparent romance.

"He feels like he's in love and I know he's not in love," said Oscar's mother, Lisa O'Neal.

Lisa and Oscar's father, Oscar O'Neal Jr., are appalled at what they are calling a forbidden love affair between their 16-year-old son and the former teacher.

"Why would you choose my child? I feel like my child was a target. She robbed him from being a youth and a child," O'Neal Jr. said.

The last time the family saw Oscar was early Monday morning.

"I believe they are together," O'Neal Jr. said. "He left a letter on the bed saying he was leaving and pretty much moving on with her."

"When I opened the door I found it on his bed surrounded with his pictures, he put all these pictures of him and his daddy," Lisa said. "He wrote a good letter telling he loved us, we raised him right and it was nothing we did. It was his decision."

Around the same time Isaiah Jackson, Nicole Jackson's husband of four years, said he last saw his wife. The couple have two children together, though their mother is now wanted by law enforcement.

"The Nicole I know would never do this," Isaiah said.

Police believe Oscar and Nicole Jackson may be traveling in a dark blue Chevy Impala with Mississippi license place FRA-4454.

"When the truth comes out, and it will come out one way or the other, I believe justice will be served," Isaiah said. "If the allegations are true against my wife, I will support him [O'Neal Jr.] as much as possible."

Neither family has heard anything from the two, but police continue to investigate.

"Oscar, if you are looking at us and you are seeing us on TV, please come home, please. Just come to the house. You are killing your mom and your dad," O'Neal Jr. and Lisa added.
