There won't be much released as long as it's an active investigation, and it's not unusual for LE to not update the family of any progress either. Some refuse contact altogether, such as those "investigating" the disappearance of a person I have an FB group for.
So I can't see how Rasheem's case is handled any different by LE from other cases in regards to not releasing information and crappy communication with his loved ones.
But I'm pretty sure the family can release whatever they have found or been allowed access to though (someone correct me if I'm wrong) and I don't know why they haven't shared their potential evidence if it's credible? Specifically about the "smooth cuts" that couldn't have been done by animals and the penis in his mouth.
I'm glad the family decided to take action, wish all suspicious disappearances and deaths could be investigated like this until there's nothing left to investigate. Arrests made or case closed.

Going on the record for myself in regards to a post upstream. Race means nothing to me, I'm searching for answers as to what happened to Rasheem.

If he was afraid and running, from a real or perceived threat, it's even possible that he could have tripped, been impaled by a sharp branch or branches from a fallen tree, broken his neck, cut himself... I know from experience that attempting to run in the woods at night is not a safe activity. Fortunately, it didn't cost me my life, but it easily could have.

I've studied this in archaeology class (of all things, but it's to determine what belongs where and when in the field). Many wild animals will come as soon as they smell it, take whatever chunk they like and then run off.

I believe a local posted about what wild animals are around this area a few pages back, including black bears.
There would likely be flesh left if humans did this. Animals take the food. Murderers take the dignity and don't care about what flesh is left. imo.

Really? I'd have to know what kind of wildlife is in the area to make a solid conclusion, but I can easily see larger animals being able to scavenge a body in days. Which then allows smaller vectors to move in. I'm trying not to go into specific details.

Do we know the skull and other bones were not defleshed by the ME during the autopsy?

How much video footage has been released at this point? (In the woods from the trail cam, Family Dollar where he was supposed to wait for a family friend, any other relevant sightings like him being at the police station asking for help/a ride, any other camera sightings around town, etc.?) Seems like there should be some amount of footage that LE should have. What does it show? Who does it show? And how much/how many minutes worth of footage have been released?

I read an article and it said he was last seen at the Super 8 in Laurel. Is that correct? Are there camera there or in the immediate area?

I just realized this is where Hometown was filmed (home reno show on HGTV). The Napier's portrayal of Laurel is very different than what some are saying about this area.

I googled some time ago and found articles and videos about black bears around Taylorsville on several occasions the past few years.
I think the local is posting on page three here about what other animals are around.
Scattered human remains are really not uncommon in the woods or any other mainly human-free areas, not sure why people are making it a big issue.

I'm not either? It was said the bones were found scattered over two acres. That's not implausible at all, I live on two acres it's not a very large area.

I'm just trying to understand what is factual and what's not. That's not as easy as it would seem.

They should easily be able to tell* human-done decapitation using a knife saw or cleaver (there will be sharp force marks on the bone, soft tissue will be separated at the same level, the separation will likely be through bone unless the person is skilled enough to find the intervertebral discs) and post-mortem scattering (no sharp force marks but indentations from animal teeth, soft tissue may have 'ripped' or separated higher or lower, the bony separation will be due to disarticulation with the bones themselves intact).
Having this knowledge would really clear a lot of things up. The lack of LE 'interest' so far leads me to believe no signs of sharp force tools may have been found, but they could also be keeping things close to the vest atm.

Only to say IMO "sunset towns" in 2023 don't always have to be in the South, and anyone who is deemed an outsider is a potential target, regardless of race, sex, religion etc etc.
