Hattiesburg Police are asking for the public’s help in locating a missing person.

On Tuesday, May 21, Hattiesburg Police received a report from Smith County Sheriff’s Office, regarding a missing white female, 41-year-old Renee Danielle McCue.

According to the Smith County Sheriff’s Office, McCue’s vehicle was abandoned and later recovered in Smith County on April 27, 2024.

Upon further investigation, police said McCue was last seen in Hattiesburg on Friday, March 15, 2024. She is 5’3” with brown eyes and weighs roughly 190 lbs.

Her Facebook page which is linked above shows her dog, who has very distinctive coloring. From what I've read there the dog is microchipped so hopefully if someone finds the dog they can identify it as hers and hopefully that might help as to where she was last located.

Smith County is not a hotbed for crime and this recent arrest was shocking to me. It has left me wondering if this person might have been capable of kidnapping Renee in Hattiesburg and then forcing her to drive or driving her to Smith County. I haven't heard of any reason that she might have gone to Smith County on her own and I can't help but wonder if there might be a connection here. The cases are different but a predator is a predator. This 29 year old guy named Julio Cesar De la Cruz Ordonez was arrested on charges of statutory rape after contacting this 14 year old Texas girl online and bringing (kidnapping?) her to Mississippi. Her parents had reported her as missing. Thank God she has been reunited with them.
