Vanished recap PART 1
  • Roger had issues with drugs and drinking for many years.
  • Roger had an on again, off again relationship with his first wife for years, even after they were divorced.
  • He married again to a woman named Kitty. They had children also.
  • Roger's mom says his life spiraled out of control once he got his first divorce and lost his kids & home.
  • Roger's mom says his second wife, Kitty, was also on drugs.
  • Roger was angry, sad, and occasionally apathetic about the direction his life had gone, which fed his drug use.
  • His daughter Alyssa says he was very funny and goofy and fun to be around. He loved being outside in the woods; he loved to hunt and fish.
  • His daughter Alyssa says his drug of choice was meth, and he had been smoking weed since age 13.
  • Years of drug abuse took a toll on Roger's health. He had a stroke and a heart attack. His mom says this made him kind of "lose his mind", he wasn't the same after that. He also couldn't do drugs anymore.
  • The stroke affected his left side greatly. He walked with a limp.
  • He was on a lot of medicine afterwards, and also developed COPD. The stress deeply affected the relationship between he and his mother, who was in charge of his medical affairs. After the fall out, Roger's wife Kitty took over his medical affairs.
  • Roger was back in the hospital toward the end of 2018. His right leg was swollen and he needed antibiotics.
  • Roger was receiving SSI, and got some backpay of about $1800 right before he went missing.
  • Roger and Kitty had a volatile relationship and their arguments were often fueled by drug use.
  • When Roger's health declined and he could no longer use drugs, he asked Kitty to please stop also, but she refused to. This led to many fights.
  • Roger stayed home a lot of the time so his kids were immediately freaked out when they found out he was missing.
  • On March 11, 2019, Kitty said she and Roger were at home, and Kitty & Roger's daughter Tiffany was there (she also goes by Brianne) with her boyfriend Dallas and their friend Eric. Kitty claimed after their guests left, Roger was trying to beat her and he broke a window, and he was trying to chase her outside and hurt her. Roger was in very poor health and had limited mobility at this time, so this story is suspicious to Roger's family.
  • Tiffany was on her way to check on her dad when she got a text from him that he was stuck and lost.
  • Roger's daughter Alyssa said he had trouble even walking his dog - there'd be no way he could chase Kitty and try to beat her. Alyssa said Kitty's attitude after Roger's disappearance was strangely giddy like nothing was wrong.
  • Kitty also told Alyssa she gave Roger a bunch of Klonopin to help him sleep before he went missing - her stories are all over the place.
  • Kitty was selling fentanyl patches at the time Roger went missing. Alyssa suspects Kitty may have given Roger fentanyl and klonopin and he overdosed, so Kitty hid the body

There has been a huge update in this case.

According to a news release from the Monroe County sheriff, 37-year-old James Crisp of Gattman walked into the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office on Tuesday, Aug. 30 and confessed to killing Roger Taylor.

I am alerting a mod to my own post for the update.

MONROE COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) – A three-year-old missing persons case may be wrapped up after a surprise confession.

Monroe County Sheriff Kevin Crook has been in law enforcement for more than twenty years, and he’s seen a lot - but Tuesday was a first.

“James Eric Crisp walked into my office, of his own free will, and confessed to having killed Mr. Taylor,” Sheriff Crook said.

Another case where the perpetrator wasn't on anyone's radar. I wonder if we will ever get more details?
I do think the headline of the article is a bit misleading when they say "Mississippi pastor". It makes it seem like a pastor just went out and killed a man. This guy has a past of drug addiction and it is my understanding that he committed this crime during that time. Since then he has found God in rehab and leads a ministry for drug addicts. Most pastors in my community have studied and gotten theology degrees.

Quoting myself here just for clarity. I was out of town and looking all of this up using my phone, which is not my favorite way to read WS. I had to go back and refresh my memory on this case and when I did, I realized that one of Kitty's friends was named Eric and that Eric is this confessor's middle name. I haven't seen any more updates with new details, but I apparently missed that before. I am wondering if we will see more arrests in this case. Is Kitty still alive? If friend Eric is the Eric in question, he most likely didn't do this alone. Does anyone else have any updates on this case to share? I am at least glad that his daughter now has answers.
