The Birmingham Race Course casino is not a nice place, and is in a bad area. It was built to showcase Thoroughbred racing and casino gambling but Alabama shut those events down. Now it simulcasts races and has some "bingo" slot machines.

Sterling was last seen in Scooba, MS at the Chevron gas station on October 25th, 2021. Sterling was with a violent individual and the individual returned to the Birmingham area without Sterling. We believed that this individual murdered Sterling, however we do not know where Sterling's body is. It can be anywhere from Dekalb, MS to Birmingham, AL.

Through investigative effort, following up on leads developed through tips and assistance from other agencies, Jefferson County detectives now have reason to believe that Sterling Jones is deceased and the victim of a homicide. They further believe the one responsible may have had assistance from others that may or may not have known at the time what happened to Mr. Jones.
