Truck driver arrested after missing 12-year-old found in the cab of his semi at truck stop

A truck driver has been arrested in Mississippi after a missing child was found in the cab of his semi at a truck stop.

The truck’s driver, 35-year-old Randy Donovan Taylor, was taken into custody and booked into Carroll County Regional Correctional Facility.

The FBI pinged the girl's phone, discovering she was at the 33/55 truck stop - hundreds of miles away from her home in North Carolina.

Taylor and the girl were communicating on a mobile device and lured her from her home

U.S. Senior District Judge Sharion Aycock sentenced Randy Taylor, 35, of Columbia, South Carolina, to 210 months (17.5 years) in prison followed by 10 years of supervised release for transporting a minor from North Carolina to Louisiana through Mississippi with intent for sexual conduct.

That is according to a Thursday, Aug. 8, press release from the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Northern District of Mississippi.

According to court documents, Taylor solicited a minor online to engage in sexual activity with him. Records state that Taylor picked up the 12-year-old outside of her home in his 18-wheeler and took the child to Louisiana where he recorded a sexual interaction between the two of them.

"This defendant earned every year of this sentence when he transported a 12-year-old child across state lines and sexually assaulted her," U.S. Attorney Clay Joyner states in the news release. "Assistant U.S. Attorney Parker King and our partners at the FBI and the Carroll County Sheriff's Office have demonstrated that there will be zero tolerance for those who would take advantage of innocent victims."
