On 12/25/2018 there is a photo on FB of Amy and her dog with a nice looking dark haired man in front of a Christmas tree. He is holding a glass of wine and she has her dog in her arms. They appear very happy and affectionate. However, prior pictures show her with a bald, heavier set gentleman. The aforesaid photo is the last one of her with a man. Did she and her longtime companion break up in 2018? Confused.

Thanks for finding the photo. I've really been short on time today so I appreciate it.

Although the window treatment is different, the window itself appears to match a couple of windows in JV's home. @momrids6 linked these photos for us several pages back:
343 Flood Rd, Great Falls, MT 59404 - realtor.com® Take a look and see what you think.

I don't know who the man is but he appears to be welcome in JV's home during the holidays so I'd have to agree that he is probably a family member or friend.

Thank you, @diggndeeperstill, for the link: Amy Elaine MOO

Search continues for missing Great Falls woman

....
Sheriff Slaughter says that the volunteers searched all of the designated areas, and were released before 1 p.m.

During a news conference at 3:15 p.m., Sheriff Slaughter thanked all of the volunteers for their efforts, and the Great Falls community for their continued support, and said that there may be another call for volunteers at some point.
.........
Sheriff Slaughter said on Monday that Harding got into an argument with her boyfriend John VanGilder at the residence.

—————————————
Does that seem like a quick search or is it normal?

I don't know, the weather was great today. Maybe, they received some additional information, that has changed the direction of the investigation. That is what it sounded like to me, from the Sheriff's news conference.

"Assessment of data"...hmmm...

Will continue to be great weather conditions for searching. 50's this weekend.

The Sheriff says the civilian searchers were released between 2 and 2:30 p.m. but LE is still searching. He characterized the search as extremely successful.

They narrowed down some leads, confirmed some leads, and found some new information. Nothing they can release at this time.

"The amount of data collection and information that we obtained today was massive. There's a massive amount of evidence and data that was collected and we're going to have to sort through all that, and that's gonna take a long time."

That doesn't mean they're going to stop the search but it means they can scale it down to a smaller area.

He is not sharing details of what has been found in the event this becomes a criminal investigation.

The search area was about 14 miles.

ETA: "We have multiple leads. We have multiple persons of interest."

I always find it interesting when the significant other isn’t helping with searches and stays silent.

Like Scott Peterson, Beau Rothwell, Fotis Dulos, Patrick Frazee, etc...

IMHO

He also indicated they have multiple persons of interest. I think he said something like whoever she had relationships with we are talking to and interviewing.

Slaughter: Public search for Amy Harding helped narrow down and confirm some leads
[...]

Sheriff Slaughter said that by 2:00 pm on Wednesday, civilians were released from the search because the areas they wanted to search were covered thanks to the amount of resources they had. Slaughter said a community search could possibly resume in the future but for now, another law enforcement only search was conducted that he says is still ongoing at the time.

Slaughter also said that they have narrowed down and confirmed some leads they had in the investigation, adding they are purposely not telling the public certain information because they want to keep it for themselves in case the investigation becomes a criminal investigation.

It sounds like the covered a lot of ground. I was hoping they would find her. One of the first cases I followed on WS was of a missing young woman. She & her husband just returned from a round the world trip. They blogged during the whole trip & she was quit upbeat about life in general. She left the home for a walk & never came home. LE conducted many searches with no luck. Then one day a neighbor went out to the back of his property & found her hanging from a tree. You can always miss someone in a search but to me I think she is out of the search area.

This photo gives a perspective of how close the river is to the back of the home.

Multiple persons of interest? Is this going to turn out to be a love triangle?

I'm thinking not. Much better to say persons rather than person.

What would they have found of Amy's? A shoe, a piece of her jacket?

But they haven't found her body yet which in many ways is a good thing.

Are you saying the Sheriff is misleading the public by saying there are "multiple persons of interest"?

Possible theories:
  • Accidental drowning
  • Intentional self-harm
  • Intentional disappearance
  • Foul play at the hands of someone other than boyfriend
  • Foul play, boyfriend did it
