Found Deceased MT - Amy Harding-Permann, 34, Great Falls, 26 Jan 2020

I don't know, the weather was great today. Maybe, they received some additional information, that has changed the direction of the investigation. That is what it sounded like to me, from the Sheriff's news conference.

"Assessment of data"...hmmm...

Will continue to be great weather conditions for searching. 50's this weekend.

This is exceptionally rare in Great Falls, she is a lifelong native of GF, connected to our only hospital, and they have been pressured by family and friends.

A search this quickly would be typical given the circumstances.
There is a lot of open land in the area. The river, is so intensely managed from Great Falls, with numerous dams, that a body would be found pretty quickly INMO, in the river, especially with it being relatively low and slow this time of year.

But, the rest of the area? Lots of space, even close to town.
Unfortunately we have bodies removed from the dams on a yearly basis, it seems.

This case is so weird. I think I have blinders on because it seems absurd that someone would go through the intense training and years of study to become a neurosurgeon to end up harming a significant other.

Will be interesting to see the data they have on her phone.
Wonder where it pinged all day?
I want to know the pings on his phone as well!

Silly question but are there "bums" down by the rivers edge? Or people parked doing drugs?

JV is my current Dr. He canceled my appmt with him that I had today, with no explanation, but I of course figured out why.

He is not a very friendly person, he is just very to the point and does not mess around. He is a very good Dr. very detailed.

If you look at his Instagram pages, there are no pictures of Amy.
Welcome to Websleuths, idrmof. Thanks for joining us. :)

I don't know the answer to your question but if I had to guess. just based on photos and videos I've seen, I'd say it's not a regular hangout for transients. MOO

Do we know if she was under the influence when she left the house?

Great Falls definitely doesn't have a homeless problem on the scale of, Seattle, for example. There are a few homeless people, but they are mostly at the shelter.

While it is mild right now, it looks like that is going to change next week. The usually brutal winter, is just too cold for homeless people.

I have to question his motive behind that call. Did she truly assault him, or did she shove him or slap him in anger, after seeing a shady text from someone on his cell, kind of thing?
That is the part of this that makes me the most suspicious of the story. While there is a possibility she seriously assaulted him, more likely is she assaulted him in some trivial way as you described. In that scenario, 9.999/10 men would not call 911 to help them deal with their long-time girlfriend and definitely not if the "danger" had passed because she already left the residence.

There is much more to this story that we haven't learned yet.

I think the word assault is throwing everyone (myself included) off. It could have been a loud and upsetting argument, she could have threatened herself or him. If someone isn’t used to having loud and aggressive arguments they may be frightened and call 911. It’s a good thing IMO to call 911 if you are afraid the situation is going to escalate and you need a neutral party to help.

I’m really confused by this one because it takes a lot of self control to be a surgeon. Physically you have to be very controlled and ignore stress and distractions to focus on your patent. You don’t have to be kind and friendly like a pediatrician but you have to have complete control over your hands and emotions since the work you’re doing is so delicate.

On top of that, most “professional” people I know both doctors and lawyers look at everything in terms of if it will hurt their career. It just takes so long to become a working surgeon that you know you have to behave a certain way to keep your licenses. An actual assault can end your career. That means losing something you’ve worked 15 years to achieve. Again, I know part of this is bias and my “view” and no one is immune from doing evil things but it just seems so unlikely to me.

Amy is an experienced OR registered nurse.
She works in the same hospital where JV performs surgery.
An assault on her record could result in losing her job as well as her license to practice.
Custody of her two sons could also be impacted.

I have Dr. in front of my name as well so I can relate. I agree about seeing things through the lens of how this will impact my career. If you can't practice you're screwed- you're not qualified for pretty much anything else and where you are qualified, those employers are going to wonder why you can't practice and take a pass. It's a real fear because anybody can accuse you of anything. Add to that there is a potential price to pay in terms of your professional reputation if you call 911. Even if you're a "victim" 50% of your neighbors will think you were at least partially, perhaps mostly, responsible. That is why I refer to it as the nuclear option and I have to wonder what exactly the assault was and I think the story is much more colorful than we have heard so far.

No article, no new information.

JAN 30, 2020
Search for Great Falls missing woman, Amy Harding
The search for Amy Harding is still on for investigators who have now been able to confirm new leads.

[...]

Sheriff Slaughter is not releasing any of the findings or new information as of this morning and is purposely not sharing any information to the public in case this search turns into a criminal investigation.

Teachers and many other professionals that hold some type of license are in the same boat. I agree with you about how colorful this story may become.

Can someone remind me if Amy's cell phone has been discussed in MSM?

If she had it- there is a world of possibilities to her whereabouts, as she could have called someone. Her path could also be tracked by LE, assuming it was on after she left- she would have no reason to turn it off.

If she didn't have it- it seems bleak to find her alive since the options are much more limited.

This is what is puzzling to me as well. Two professionals who have a lot to risk, and wouldn't want a lot of public attention on their personal lives. If the truth is being told, I envision he must have thought his life was at stake to call 911. Something like Amy had a firearm during the fight. If the story is fabricated, then the scenarios are wide open. Do you suspect he called 911 in order to hurt her professionally and personally?
