Jordan Graham Trial: Did Her Wedding Blues Lead to Murder?

As her newlywed husband Cody Johnson lay face down at the bottom of a cliff on the night of July 7, Jordan Graham fired off a flurry of text messages to her friends, discussing her dance moves and planting fake stories to explain Johnson's disappearance, federal prosecutors say in pretrial briefs.

Jordan Graham newlywed murder trial begins in Montana

A jury of six women and eight men, including two alternate jurors, will decide whether Graham intended to kill her husband or whether his death was a result of self-defense. The trial is being held in federal court because the death occurred in a national park.
Even though the couple was alone at the time of the incident, dozens of friends, acquaintances and experts are on the witness list. At least 30 witnesses are expected to testify for prosecution.

Newlywed accused of pushing her husband to his death off cliff 'showed little emotion' when she found his body

Graham's brother, Michael Rutledge, testified earlier yesterday that he was angry with Graham because she had lied again and again.

'She could have told us the truth,' Rutledge testified, sobbing.

'She told one lie, was asked to tell the truth, and she said it again. And she had to keep adding more lies to cover it up. And that's maybe why I was mad.'

The testimony came on the second day of trial for Graham, as prosecutors dissected her actions from the time her husband went missing on July 7 until his body was found on July 11 in the national park.

Using videotaped statements by Graham and text messages from her friend and her brother, prosecutors showed how her story unravelled.
Rutledge testified that he was close to his sister and the 25-year-old Johnson.

He said he was with Graham on July 10, when they went with their mother and two friends to a spot called The Loop to look for Johnson's body, but it was too dark to see.

Many apologies, I have been looking for links to view the trial itself and was unsuccessful. Are camera's permitted in the courtroom? I've been searching for a while and I don't want to be a bother. If there indeed is links so I am able to follow the testimony in a live trial, I would greatly appreciate a point in the right direction. Again, sorry Mods for taking up bandwidth space because I am "search challenged". :blushing:

Thanks for all of this information. Are camera's permitted at this trial and are we able to watch it live as we have done in other trials? TIA

This case is really just sad. I don't believe Graham's story that this was an accident. IMO she had ample opportunity over the 2 years before she married Cody to break it off. IMOthis is a very very troubled young woman who has destroyed so many lives and ended one. Reading about her 16 year old brother having to testify against his sister in tears just broke my heart. This is so sad. In most of the cases I have followed here, I have been very angry at the accused. Not here for some reason. I am more saddened than anything. JMV

Well darn :sigh: Many thanks for your prompt response and your help.
I appreciate it mutchley!

Speaking of men being pushed or falling off of cliffs, does anyone remember a trial of a young women in Oregon (I think?) back in the 90's who was on trial for pushing her boyfriend off a cliff and was convicted of the crime?

Through the years I have googled and Utubed and researched and was unable to find any information. I've forgotten the names of persons involved.

It was an interesting case because initially she was not a person of interest or a suspect until his family pushed LE for years until they finally investigated the young lady and determined the fall was due to her pushing him off of a cliff.

I clearly recall a couple of details that may help someone remember the case:
They had parked in the lot of the State Park and she had claimed he was still hiking but she went back to the car in the parking lot and stayed in the car for a period of time. There were issues with timing and she had admitted that she fake pushed him at one time before as a joke.

I was never truly convinced that she was indeed guilty, which is why I am interested in reviewing the case again. TIA and thanks again for the reply I wish we could view this particular case as it pans out in the courtroom.
