Lake County Sheriff Don Bell she was reported missing to his office about a week after her disappearance.

“We had drones, we had underwater drones, we had dog teams and we searched and we still haven’t located her,” Bell said.

Lake County Sheriff's Office personnel and Tribal Police officers were able to determine that her last confirmed location was in a recreation area near Buffalo Bridge, south of Polson, on Oct. 8.

Tenas had been with friends in that area and became separated from them after their vehicle broke down. Her friends attempted to locate her, but eventually assumed she had gotten a ride from other friends or people who were present in the area.

She is not known to carry or own a cellphone.

In 1995 she appealed a conviction for negligent homicide (negligent driving in 1992 resulting in the death of another). If you read to the end, she lost the appeal. Sentence was 10 years in a correctional facility. 5 years was asked for if she attended rehab but taking into account factors of age, lack of criminal history but alleged lack of remorse for the death caused by her drinking and driving, she was given the full 10 years minus 90 days.

As to her currently being missing - the details of story have changed some depending on the report. This one stated she was NOT with a group of friends but ONE friend who left her at his/her truck to go ride an ATV. The ATV broke down and by the time he/she got it running and returned to the truck Danette was gone. The article states she was not reported missing to the Sheriff for a week. “Danette had been with friends in that area and became separated from them after a breakdown had occurred on a vehicle they were operating,” according to a press release from Bell. “The friends she was with attempted to locate her, but eventually assumed she got a ride from other friends or people who were present in the area as this would not be out of the ordinary for Danette to do.
