Community turns out for Montana girl's funeral
More than 350 people attended the funeral of a 14-year-old Native American girl found dead on Northern Cheyenne Reservation in Montana.

The funeral for Henny Scott was held Saturday at the Lame Deer High School gym.
Her friends and family have expressed frustration that law enforcement didn't react faster, and similar concerns have emerged nationally about the response to the disappearance of Native American women and girls.

Has anything been said if they suspect foul play? I saw COD is pending.

Have been keeping an eye on local news. No updates that I have seen :(

Odd that the funeral was so quick, I don't think that the autopsy results would be completed or even started that fast...

Murder/death on reservations become FBI investigation, not BIA.

Believe the 28th or 29th Henny's body was taken to Billings for autopsy. Have not seen any official updates. It's dangerous to be female on the rez. Very sad and scary. RIP Henny

In the letter, Daines asks that May 5th be designated each year as a National Day of Awareness in honor of Hanna Harris’s birthday. Harris was a member of the Northern Cheyenne Tribe who went missing and was later found murdered in 2013.

The letter also mentions Ashley Loring HeavyRunner, Roylynn Rides Horse, Kenzley Olson, and Henny Scott, who was missing for 15 days before her body was found on December 28, 2018.

Supporters march for Henny Scott on Valentine's Day

Kenzie Wallowing Bull carries a sign during a march through Lame Deer for 14-year-old Henny Scott on Thursday. Scott went missing for weeks before a volunteer search party found her body west of town. A cause of death has not been released to the public, and the FBI is handling the investigation.

The family of Henny Scott has also said their concerns were initially dismissed by law enforcement. The 14-year-old Northern Cheyenne girl’s immediate family previously told The Billings Gazette the local BIA police hadn't taken previous concerns seriously, so they filed the missing person report in Crow Agency, about 45 miles away. Three weeks later, the FBI asked the state to issue a MEPA for her. She was found dead by a volunteer search party two days after that.

#NotInvisible: Why are Native American women vanishing?

I read this article the other day. It’s about another girl, Ashley Loring, 20, who is also missing from a Native American reservation in Montana. The article details the overlap in jurisdictions and some of the issues with the high numbers we see of missing natives.

ETA from the article:
“Where do I go to file a missing person’s report?” Purdon asks. “Do I go to the tribal police? ... In some places they’re underfunded and undertrained. The Bureau of Indian Affairs? The FBI? They might want to help, but a missing person case without more is not a crime, so they may not be able to open an investigation. ... Do I go to one of the county sheriffs? ... If that sounds like a horribly complicated mishmash of law enforcement jurisdictions that would tremendously complicate how I would try to find help, it’s because that’s what it is.”

I dont know why but I really need to know the details behind her death... this case has bothered me so badly.

Why did they assume she was injured when first reported?
What was her actual cause of death?

The U.S. Attorney’s Office will not seek federal charges in the death of Henny Scott, a 14-year-old Lame Deer girl whose body was found on Dec. 28, 2018 on the Northern Cheyenne Indian Reservation. After a thorough investigation by the FBI and Bureau of Indian Affairs, the office has determined it cannot prove any federal crime was committed.

No Federal Charges to be Sought in Death of Henny Scott
