Well, this will be a big case for Gallatin county. I can't remember the last child killed by abuse and torture in Gallatin county. And four separate defendants.

This is huge. It will be interesting to watch.
I’m afraid it will be a slow road to justice.
All four seem to be getting a lot of comments on their respective FB.

If I were the best buddy, I'd be looking for a squeal and a deal.
Oh, I bet he’s sobbing like a baby, wanting to go home.
I am guessing chunkle James is throwing tantrums that rival a two yo. We might assume he’s not overly pleased with his meals. I hope the juvie staff are not cutting him any slack.

Yeah, all of the food is locked up where he can't get at it. He is locked up too. I bet that he is unhappy.

Yea....rules! No phone, TV, midnight snacks, assaulting children, etc. Big adjustment, lol. Love it!
Oh, no mommy, either.

@mickey2942 it might be months before #3 is allowed to socialize, correct? As you mentioned yesterday, his size alone has to be a factor in how he is handled & held. Imo he’s appx 2-3 X larger than most of the other kids being held.

When I was 13-14 I was 5'3" tall and 115 pounds. Although I was a girl I was one of the largest kids in my 7th grade. So he is nearly 3 times my then-weight, and 9" taller. Just for my own reference. I would have been scared of him. Even if he bumped me by accident passing in the hall...... How to estimate the power in those ham hands.

This is from a previous link, I simply can’t get over how matter of fact the aunt & uncle seem. Shaking my head over the two conducting concussion tests......
Hearing set to consider trying 14-year-old boy as adult in West Yellowstone homicide
Sasser III reported that he and James got into a “pretty bad fight” during the morning of Feb. 1, after James had escaped “from behind the couch” and Batts lost her temper. Sasser III and James wrestled and exchanged punches, making James cry. A while after the fight, Sasser III said that James "started acting weird" and Batts told him she believed he had consumed alcohol.

On Super Bowl Sunday, the day before James was found dead, the family ate dinner watching the game while James had to stand by the door to the garage, according to Sasser III in court documents. The family had started keeping food from James a couple of months before his death.

Sasser III hit James with the paddle after he left the area by the door, but did not have any other fights that day. He admitted that the paddle broke at the time, but not as a result of hitting James.

James’ 18-year-old aunt, who also lived with the family, said that a fight started on either Saturday night or Sunday morning, after Sasser III touched a heater while he and James were being duct taped together. Sasser III had kicked and punched James in the head about five times after the duct tape was taken off.

She said that Sasser III hit James’ head against the wall and that it dented it. The aunt said that James’ grandparents were present during the fight. The aunt said that James had memory loss and was disoriented after the fight, similar “to how she acted after she had been in a car accident.” She and Sasser Jr. conducted concussion tests on James.

possibly he has a med condition that caused obesity?
He outweighs me by 180. Frightening to think of him assaulting anyone. He’s so filled with rage & he’s a child.
He mustn’t ever be back in society, imo.

Just incredible. For what it's worth, that's the only specific reference to James drinking "alcohol" and it was really brain damage, reading between the lines. LE probably tested him for alcohol in his blood, just to rule out what Batty said.

Honestly I think a person at 14 would have had to force feed himself donuts his whole life to weigh that much. I wonder what he looked like at 4, 5, etc. Re hormones, I don't know.

Alcohol on an empty stomach? I seriously doubt it. If he did consume, he was likely forced to drink it, instead of water. Really, I’m surprised James wasn’t in organ failure.
Boy, they had a Super Bowl party for the archives.....

Iirc, March 5 is the hearing to determine if chuncle will be tried as an adult. Will a decision be made then or will it drag on for a year?

How horrible would it be to have to defend any of the 4.
I assume they will have court appointed legal teams.

Yes, they both (PB & JS jr) asked for a public defender in their hearing on 2/13.

and Chuncle James is 3 of me in weight!

No, Montana is very fast compared with other states.

I’d hate to be a judge affording leniency to any of them.

hopefully MT gets busy disposing of any assets & if they have equity, it can go towards legal assistance or to a charity.

Also, the grands appeared in Gallatin county court but chuncle appeared in district. Because of his age?

Maybe distance between Billings and Bozeman. 150 miles or so...

Sasser III was seen in Gallatin County District Court on Wednesday before Judge John Brown. He is being held at the Yellowstone Youth Services Center in Billings, Montana, on $500,000 bail.

@mickey2942 do you recall reading any local news reports regarding the maternal grandparents? I’m curious if they might have reached out to PB. Tysm.
(I’m sure Montanans see more news on this)
