Trail Ridge Road or Old Fall River Road? I am sorry to hear about your experience in RMNP. I live in Estes. Feel bad you had such a terrible experience.
Trail Ridge Road, it looks like. Route 34. I wasn't being especially daring. So many people everywhere........
RIP Jenn. This is difficult news.

Is there a device that can be used as a long range metal detector? I'm sure she has some metal with her - cell phone, GPS watch, etc. I'm guessing that the old metal detector that folks would use on the beach could detect metal 3-4 feet away. Fast forward 40 years and I'm wondering if modern technology could expand that range to hundreds of feet?
Oh no. So terribly sorry for her family and friends. RIP Jennifer.

I just saw this on a Richmond news channel. I've been to Glacier, but I only took short hikes so the altitude really didn't have a noticeable effect on me. I wonder if it or a drop in temperature was the cause. I was really hoping for a better outcome.

Any updates?

The Grinnell Glacier overlook trail is closed for the recovery effort. It's been too windy to recover Jenn as yet. Her parents are here to get her dogs and car. RIP Jenn.

Sad to hear the news about this young lady. I will be at this park in two weeks, so I had been bookmarking some hikes.

Some photos of the area around Grinnell Glacier are in this hiking article. Beautiful area, but the hike description sounds challenging. Not sure this is the same trail Jenn took, but it seems to be the right area.

“Start by hiking north from Logan Pass on Highline Trail. This incredibly scenic trail is pleasantly gradual, gaining just 500 feet over its first 6.8 miles.

After a long gentle descent, Highline Trail comes to its first marked junction, about 3/4 of a mile before Granite Park Chalet. To the right, Garden Wall Trail climbs a steep gravel slope toward the top of the divide. More challenging than anything that has come so far, this trail tackles 950 feet over 0.87 miles to a dip on the Continental Divide.

A sign at the junction lists the distance at 0.6 miles, but unfortunately this is an understatement. Take your time hiking up the rocky track, which is un-apologetically tough on tired legs.

@steeltowngirl have fun! Bring warm clothing. The weather changes fast this time of year.

You probably won't hike the same trail, I don't think that the busses run after Labor Day.

Jenn is off the mountain. Rest in power, Jenn.

Thank you! I plan to do some shorter, easier hikes. I will surely do one in Jenn’s honor and memory. Glad to hear they have recovered her. May her soul now be at rest.

Be careful out there! Maybe bring a steeltownboy or another steeltowngirl with you to watch your back. :)

The Aware Foundation just shared (5 mins ago) that officials are currently working to remove Jennifer’s body from the park. They asked for prayers for the men and women who have been given this incredibly difficult retrieval. ❤️

.....
The Aware Foundation also shared the following article in one of their recent posts on Jennifer.

What happened to Jennifer Lee Coleman? Virginia hiker found dead after reportedly going missing at Glacier National Park
Her car was parked at Logan Pass. One of my hikes started there. But we were stopped at a certain point due to a sighting of grizzly farther on down. But at an overlook we could see for miles down the trail and there were a LOT of hikers returning from beyond the closure point and the rangers indicated most of these were returning from an early morning hike from Grinnell Glacier. It appeared to be a trail with a lot of hikers. This was in August.

A Two Bear Air helicopter crew on Tuesday afternoon recovered the body of a 34-year-old woman who went missing last week during an apparent solo hike in Glacier National Park.

Jennifer Coleman, of Richmond, Virginia, was airlifted out of a steep, rocky area below the Grinnell Glacier Overlook, which is accessed via the Highline Trail from Logan Pass. Searchers found her body on Sunday but postponed the recovery due to high winds that made the operation unsafe.

Park spokeswoman Gina Kerzman said it appeared Coleman fell into the area but the cause of death remains under investigation.

Thank you for sharing this. In an earlier post, I said I was ‘glad’ they recovered her. My own words have been bothering me - I sounded dismissive and cold. The loss of Jenn is simply tragic, and I apologize for my poorly stated post. Her family expressed in a much better way what I wanted to express - their relief that Jenn was located and can be brought home to rest. Prayers for their peace as they grieve the loss of their beloved daughter.

No apology necessary - I'm sure we all recognize your genuine sympathy and sentiments.

Made it to Glacier National Park today. Going Up the Sun Road was spectacular. Got to Logan’s Pass and did a short hike on a trail near Highline’s entrance in memory of Jenn. Left a small note on the NPS board. Her last view of this earth was breathtaking.
