It's kind of important to note that in Montana, a plea of "Not Guilty" to the charge of Deliberate Homicide does not necessarily mean that the Defendant is making a blanket denial of the facts presented. It means that some element(s) of the case against the Defendant are denied. There are still wide avenues of plea negotiation open. Note that the primary change in this update is that attorney Jack Sands, whom the defendant's family said was going to represent him, has not taken the case and he is currently being represented by the Public Defender's office. The trial for the man accused of killing 57-year-old Lori Bray in October 2019 and dumping her nude body in a ditch outside Laurel began Monday in a Yellowstone County courtroom.

Diego Hernandez, 24, has pleaded not guilty to one count of deliberate homicide. Judge Michael Moses presided.
