I wonder the context. It seems early to be having a drink, but maybe 'bar' means something else in Montana.

No. Anaconda is an old mining town. The bar opens early, and stays open late.

According to this article, the bar was right beside his home? Was he angry about noise, or was he there at the bar? Did he get into an altercation or just come in and start shooting? So many questions. Hope they catch him soon.

Yes. I do too. He is in a white Ford F-150, which is probably the most popular truck in Montana.

A shooting at a Montana bar left four people dead Friday, prompting a lockdown in a neighborhood several miles away as authorities searched for the suspect in a wooded, mountainous area.

A Montana city is on lockdown after four people were killed in a bar by an active shooter.

A shelter in place is in effect for Anaconda after a suspect identified by police as Michael Paul Brown, 45, allegedly opened fire inside Owl Bar in the city on Friday.

One person who spoke with MTN News said they had been at a nearby bar and saw the shooter walking around with a rifle.

Investigators searching for a man they say shot and killed four people at a Montana bar Friday morning have located the pickup truck he fled in, but the suspect — believed to be armed and dangerous — remains on the loose, officials said.

A white Ford F-150 that Michael Paul Brown drove was found, but Brown “was not located in or around the vehicle,” Montana Division of Criminal Investigation Administrator Lee Johnson said at a news conference late Friday.

Summer, he could go backwoods and camp anywhere. Or steal from other campers, break into a cabin. Not good.

Another military guy...

Travis Decker - military.
Vance Boelter - trained by military.
Son of Sam - honorably discharged.
Timothy McVeigh - decorated.
There are more. What screeening does the military have BEFORE they train someone?

Please note. Anyone who thinks I'm picking on the military, the background of Andrew James McGann, Arkansas killer, was well-publicized as a teacher with much discussion about screening.

I would say the Military attracts all kinds. I think they can only be so selective as when it comes down to it, you need a fairly large percentage of your recruits to be comfortable with trying to kill people. So people on or a bit over the edge would unfortunately be pretty common place. After care may be the bigger issue.

I have a couple of bars nearby that are equally known for their meals. 1 has a “Family Special” dinner until 9 and then the Bar part starts. It’s a pretty well thought of place tho.

They say he lived right next door to the owl bar. There is an empty lot on the other side of the bar, so I guess this is his house (the photo is 13 years old). What was the final straw that set him off? Was he mad at the bar, or mad at people in the bar, or was it just the first place with people that he saw?

o/t but the screening they do won't necessarily pick up anything because the damage is done during service IN the military - they don't have PTSD prior to enlisting ... JMO

This probably has a "paywall".

1. Still looking for suspect
2. More than 100 LEO are actively searching.
3. His brother is in prison for stabbing someone. 100 year sentence.
"William Leonard Brown, a brother of Michael Brown, fatally stabbed a man in Anaconda-Deer Lodge County in 2000. He was sentenced in January 2002 to 100 years in prison".

The names of the four victims were also released during the press conference.

They are identified as 59-year-old Daniel Edwin Baille, 64-year-old Nancy Lauretta Kelly, 70-year-old David Allen Leach and 74-year-old Tony Wayne Palm.
