The Gallatin County Sheriff’s office has issued a Missing Endangered Person Advisory for Monica Rose Downs.

Monica is a 39-year-old, white female, 5’7” tall and 105 lbs. with black hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing a white tank top with black and white yoga pants and black flip flops.

Monica was traveling through the area from Washington state with her boyfriend. She was last seen near Bozeman on Interstate 90 around mile marker 321. Monica and her boyfriend were possibly arguing in the pullout area at the top of the Bozeman Pass.

Monica has not been seen or heard from since the argument. There is a concern for Monica’s safety due to some of the circumstances surrounding her disappearance.

If you have any information on Monica Downs, please contact Gallatin County Sheriff’s Office at (406) 582-2100 or call 9-1-1.

I wonder what was their final destination and when were they supposed to arrive? Who saw them arguing and what was the argument about? This is very concerning.

So what happened then? After the argument she stormed off on foot into the wilderness?

I'm sure that's what her boyfriend will say. It's a convenient excuse.

But you can't walk very far in rural Montana wearing just flip-flops.

I wonder how long it'll take for the boyfriend to be a POI.....?

I'm sure he must have been questioned already....

It's not really wilderness at this point--busy interstate highway with lots of trucks as well as local farm and tourist traffic. But your point is correct, she isn't walking far in flip-flops.

It would be plausible that she said, "Let me out here and I'll hitch a ride back into Bozeman." Hopefully that's what happened and she'll get in touch with police when she sees she's missing. But I'm really afraid that's not the situation...

Thanks, @carbuff. Local info really helps.
This one's scary, as they all are. Let's hope she is on her way back home -- but seems to me if she was able to get transportation back home, she would be there by now.
I hope LE is looking for her boyfriend also -- he has some details to supply IMO to help LE find her.
Not liking this one...

It’s quite a familiar story. Argued with girlfriend, she left car, now she is gone. Has this story ever ended well?? Moo

I find the wording of the MSM article interesting. They were "possibly" arguing and she hasn't been seen or heard from since. No mention of her leaving on foot. Did the boyfriend report her missing?

Exactly what I was thinking when I read it also.

It's an all too familiar story, almost a cliché, that only ever has one outcome, and it's never good. :(

Yeah it's all quite weird. There's nothing in any of the local news outlets except for that same announcement from the state DOJ. No mention of searches or anything like that, which I would ordinarily expect. My family members who still live in the area hadn't even heard she was missing until I asked.

Wow, 5'7" @ 105 lbs - so thin. Very underweight.
She won't survive long, if she ended up out in the elements.

The fact that there is virtually no information, is not a good sign.
Seems like LE already knows what happened, and are quietly gathering what they need.
:(

imoo

Yes, the only thing missing is, "she left without her purse, and phone," etc. :(

So, I wonder then (if she did in fact leave alive, on foot) - did she have her things with her? Did she have any money and/or her phone?

Definitely not looking good.

imo

That's not a wilderness area, BTW. A bit isolated at the top of the pass, where she was seen, but probably no more than a mile or two to houses and businesses in either direction, and there's an access road that runs parallel to I-90 the whole was. Plus the road is the major east-west corridor from the west coast to the midwest/east and there's traffic at all times of the day or night.

Well, that can be both a good thing and a bad thing......I do hope she hasn't been picked up by someone with nefarious purposes.

Just thinking out loud here - "Monica and her boyfriend were possibly arguing in the pullout area at the top of the Bozeman Pass".

Trying to imagine this, so possibly arguing to me means some loud language (screaming? something physical?) going on, enough to have another party who's witnessing it make note of it and get suspicious of what's going on. Other party calls LE to report and then notices now no Monica to be seen. LE comes and questions BF who says she took off and he doesn't know where she went (wish LE looked in the BF trunk).

Probably not at all what happened and I would love to read the original report info, as it would explain exactly what went down. But if someone did call LE about a fight I wonder if it was a trucker - they are really being taught now to watch and report unusual situations to help catch someone suspected of being trafficked, etc. Seeing someone fighting being pulled into a car or similar might have set off the spidey senses!

Am I the only one thinking they should look for her over the side of the mountain? :(
