Hmm, did anyone notice at the bottom of KHQ's story that someone in comments stated <modsnip>. Interesting!

I've been on this site unofficially since Rachael Anderson of WA State disappeared in 2010. I finally signed up this weekend. I'm obsessed with Websleuths! You are all awesome!

Any chance the mystery shopper could be Rita in disguise? They found a hoody in the trunk with her, if I recall correctly.

Doesn't look like her at all. But now family says the "timelines don't match up" so this guy on the video might be just a regular shopper not using Rita's credit card.
"They’re doing a little investigating of their own. They said that report of a man shown on video allegedly using Maze’s card are inaccurate. Family said the timelines didn’t match up."

That is assuming daily mail even got the correct guy in the photo. They are not known for the accuracy of their reporting.

I am quoting myself, but it sure looks like daily mail got it wrong. I don't think this guy is even using Rita's credit card, since family claims "timelines don't match up."

The comment doesn't mean anything, and doesn't really say anything about where she was. Irrelevant.

I wonder how far off they are in time. Did anyone check to see the accuracy of the clock that's set on the video?

Maybe they got confused by time zone changes. So they could be way off.

"Update: Rita's daughter Rochelle said on the KRTV Facebook page on Monday evening that the FBI contacted the family and confirmed that the information in the British tabloid article was false."

source: KRTV

Daily mail strikes again? I am going to guess they picked a guy on the video matching the general description of what Rita claimed was her abductor, but the guy had nothing to do with the case and wasn't using her credit card.
That's why stores shouldn't be giving surveillance videos to the press.

Did I miss something? Is there an image of the gas-pumper?

TIA.

Rita's daughter makes it quite clear that the credit card was only used at the pump where there were no cameras and the guy that happened to be within the store at the same approximate time was not using Rita's card and is not a POI, something the FBI has also verified with her.

OK So, a large man, but not the man in the DM photo, did, in fact use Rita's card in Ritzville. Then, apparently backtracking toward Spokane, Rita's car is found in a Spokane parking lot with her deceased inside. Why were "they" in Ritzville if the destination was Spokane? Is the card missing? Where is the time-accurate video of the purchase in Ritzville??? JMO OOOH....so ONLY the pump used...no video and Rita did not tell her husband that a half hour earlier she heard gas being pumped into the tank......OK......

Confirms what many of us think of DailyMail - they get photos fast, but don't check facts for accuracy.

There is no reference to the size or the gender of the person that used the pumps (with RM's card) at Ritzville as apparently there are no cameras in the pumping area. Perhaps further footage will turn up from the adjoining restaurant where her car was also reported to be parked for a period. The CC transaction was reported to be 9:55pm but I no longer trust all of the time stamps in this case as something is wonky with the 55min/85mile trek from Post Falls to Ritzville.

The cousin said "large man".......but NOT the man in DM pic. So, who saw a "large man" pumping gas??

Now I'm completely confused again. I thought the card was only used for gas in Kingston, Idaho. Did someone also put $25 worth of gas in a car using her card in Ritzville, WA as well?

I do know those two locations are 121 miles a apart. Would a car even use enough gas in 121 miles to have room in the tank for $25 worth in Ritzville? If the card was used for gas in both locations I wonder if more than one car is involved or if Rita's car never actually went to Ritzville at all? I wonder how much gas was in the tank when they found her car?

I've not read reports of anyone actually seeing a large man pumping gas. I think the family is going off RM's report of a large man taking her, so they believe he would be the one pumping. (JMO.)

I finally looked at the map and I guess I didn't realize that this was quite the ride. The person passed Spokane to go to Ritzville just to turn around and head back. The airport is right there. I can't even imagine how frustrating this is for the family.

Rita's cousin Leann Kaufman said she is not happy with the FBI's answers and has done her own digging.

"I don't understand the angle. Taking that angle is ludicrous to say the least." "She didn't kill herself, She was murdered,” Kaufman said.

She has gone to the gas station in Ritzville where Maze told family members she was kidnapped.

"While I was in Ritzville, I was able to talk to some people and verify that she was not in their store, A large man was in their store using her card. Which is what she described,” Kaufman said.

This is where I read what the cousin said. It is a quote. JMO

According to this timeline, the card was used in Ritzville, at 9:55 pm. An officer would have heard the gunshots later at 11:00. Keeping in mind, I don't know what timezone those times are accounted as.

Clear as mud? I get more confused everyday!!!!
