For the question about a perp stopping for gas, you can get over 400 miles highway driving on a full tank of a Pontiac Grand Prix (listed at 28 mpg x 17 gal)

On a full tank, yes, but would she necessarily have filled up completely for a 90 mile journey? Having a full tank reduces the mileage due to the weight of the fuel.

<snip>

The Great Falls woman told her family at 10:25 p.m. Tuesday that “a large man in a black hoodie” hit her on the head and put her into a trunk of a car at a rest stop near Wolf Creek on Tuesday morning. She wasn’t even sure if she was in her car or not.

Husband, Bob Maze, and daughter, Rochelle Maze, had police on the other line as they spoke to Maze in what would be her final hours. They relayed what she told them to police, but the information came too late.

So many conflicting reports in all of the news outlets. A press conference would be nice, although I have a feeling an arrest will be made before one would be "necessary."

I'd like to know:

What time does her family in Helena say she left there?
Why did she stop at a rest area when her ride was only 1.5 hours? You'd think she'd be able to "hold it" that long, having made that trip so many times.
If she really did stop at the rest area, was it to go to the bathroom or was she meeting someone??
What was her husband doing all day?
Just how many times did she talk to her husband? Some MSM says several, some says once, and only after she was officially reported missing.
Why didn't she call earlier if she had her phone?
Why was her credit card used further away from her starting destination than where she was found?
Did her daughter actually talk to her?
Did LE actually talk to her?
Was the autopsy able to confirm her death as being very late in the evening and not much, much earlier in the day?

If I was on E, I would fill it up regardless of the length of my trip. I had no clue that a full tank reduces mileage.

I don't think we've talked about the credit card yet.

"Maze's family said the phone call from her came in around 10:25 p.m. and her credit card statement shows the card was used in Ritzville at 9:55 p.m. but Maze was found near the Spokane Airport after midnight."

I googled it. The perp drove west for quite a while, then came back east to kill her?

Ritzville, to answer my own question, is SW of Spokane.

Well, that's hopefully good news... there might be surveillance video of whomever used it !

Hmm..Interesting, I've never heard that before. I make it a point to not let my gas tank drop below half a tank when I'm on a road trip. Sometimes going through remote areas here in the US it is hard to find a gas station. I have actually run out of gas before in the mountains because I could not find a place to stop--I had to walk several miles. So after that, I never let the gas tank get too low on a long trip if I can help it. That is different if I'm driving around a city though--then I will let it go until the light comes on sometimes.

Anyway I think her receipts will show how much gas she put in. When they say they are looking at CCTV surveillance, I wonder if there is someone at the gas station that was watching her? Could he have followed her and taken the opportunity to abduct her when she stopped at the rest stop?

Yes, that is great news. And, the credit card company should be able to tell what was purchased. I wonder if anything has been purchased wit the card after that?

LE said they would release a photo of POI on Wednesday. It's Thursday and no photo. Hope one is coming soon.

One question which hasn't been asked so far is where is her kidnapper now?

From what I've read the car was abandoned in a parking area near Spokane airport. Assuming he didn't fly out somewhere, his options are:

1. Make his way into Spokane (especially if he was local);
2. Steal another car and drive elsewhere; or
3. Make his way to one of the junctions on the I90 which runs past the airport and try to pick up a lift there. There seem to be a number of places where he could try to get a lift out of the Spokane area.

"Rochelle said her mother described the man as being large, of maybe African American or Native American descent, was about 6’5” tall and was wearing a black hoodie."

"dark skinned"....those are my words based on the perp possibly being AA or NA.

Also from that article:

“If anyone ever, doesn’t matter if she knew you, or if you were someone close to her. If anyone ever asked her for anything at all from money to anything she would give them the shirt off of her back,” Rochelle explained

That's what I meant when I said maybe she's nicer or less suspicious than I am. If I saw a man alone at a rest stop and he looked like he needed help or was hitchhiking I would keep driving. This makes it sound like she's the type of person who would stop.

Oh that explains a lot. He used her card to fill up. Hope they got him on camera. We need someone to do a permanent case map.

The are only two situations when I would never fill up when getting gas
1) Returning a rental car with the same amount of gas as when I received it
2) When gas was very expensive and I was a student counting my dimes and a half tank would get me through
I have never heard of anybody half-filling to improve fuel efficiency?

I've never heard this. Does it change as much as having another person in the car? I haven't noticed my MPG changing on road trips when there are one or two other people with me. But if he is a large man it might affect the mileage as much as a full tank.

Cause of death has been determined, though the manner of death has not been.

:(

So they are not sure it was homicide? Are they wondering about suicide? I am confused....
