the case and say it could be months before they release an official statement regarding the circumstances about her death and alleged kidnapping.

Can anyone think of any case that has been solved in recent months? I am drawing a blank

It seems like they suspect some kind of inside job or don't have enough information to rule it out yet.

OK really crazy, but could she have found/hired someone to kill her, so it would technically be suicide, but appear as murder.

Your thoughts?

They found blood on the ground outside of the vehicle. I wonder what that's about.

I will not be satisfied until they tell us about this blood on the ground, until they absolutely can prove that no one else gassed up her car, and can tell me if she was driving that car.....

Could have soaked through the carpeting in the trunk and dripped on the ground.

That has been my assumption until proven otherwise. Car trunks do have drains in them, so that any liquid spilled or leaking in has a way out.

What I meant was, where was it found? Why bring it up if it's obviously dripped from the person inside the trunk?

I agree, it was written as if it was not under car- I would have written blood was found under the vehicle. I remember this cause I thought it sounded as if whoever shot her checked to make sure she was dead and got some blood on hands.

The blood was mentioned in the search warrant application. The exact words were:
"At 0119 hours (PDT) deputies then located blood on the ground near the vehicle."

I wouldn't put too much weight on the exact working, though. The blood easily could have originated under the vehicle.

Very strange case

I just dont understand why they think this wasnt a murder. Is it because she called her family instead of 911? Who knows what you would do in that situation. Nothing they have said so far leads me to believe it was a suicide. Its tragic either way but her family deserves to know truth and for them to release statements doubting the murder they should explain why they think she took her own life.

The biggest red flag right off that bat is that it took 10 hours for her to use her phone. Why?

LE has not yet shared their evidence. However, they have said her story should be questioned, that there is no person of interest, and that the public is not in danger. I'm sure they have plenty of evidence they haven't released yet...

I don't remember blood on the floor?

Rita Maze was returning to Great Falls, Montana, after visiting family in Helena, 90 miles south of her home
She called her husband on Tuesday saying she had been kidnapped from a Montana Interstate gas station and was trapped in her trunk
Cops traced Rita's cell and found her body with a single gunshot wound in the trunk - around 325 miles away from where she was allegedly taken
The keys of the car were found in the ignition and blood was on the floor

I don't either! I tend to think they are referring to the blood on the ground near the car. But floor is not the correct word for ground outside. It's not the same thing at all. If there was blood on the FLOOR of the car that would be very mysterious. The mention of blood on the floor in the same sentence as keys in the ignition makes it sound like the blood was on the floor in the front seat area of the car. But I'm just guessing they used the wrong word. :waitasec:

keys found in the ignition?....so how did she slam the trunk from the inside.....I think that would be hard to do......

someone questions why she didn't call fr 10 hrs......she said she was hit in the head.....was she knocked out?......as far as phones go, phones can be old, damaged, difficult to use, spotty coverage, etc.....

occams razor.....what seems like the most likely scenario probably is the right scenario.....

What exactly would be a "most likely scenario?" I don't see someone driving with her in the trunk for many hours, while she is able to use her phone, and then killing her without taking anything as a likely scenario.

If she found someone to kill her it would still be murder, not suicide.

I agree sort of!! Confusing indeed. I have found it interesting tho that noone has "reported' on the severity of her head injury. I would think forensicaly they would be able to determine if it was self inflicted or not - and that would pretty well rap it up no?

A long time ago someone posted another very interesting notion. Someone in a trunk that long in that state would urinate and defacate. I would also think absense of either would also be telling.

So at some level I would have to come to the conclusion that LE does know if it was murder or suicde.

The real question then becomes why no statement going one way or the other. Suicide is sad, but not in LE job description to filter info.

So in a way does that mean they know it was murder and dont want the perp to know that?

Which might take us to hit man -- insurance for her daughter - apperently they were very enmeshed. THe religon factor also haunts me -- could that be why she wanted it to look like a crime -- shame?

I think LE are trying not to scare the public.

WHO'S blood was on the floor? If it was Rita's then we have MORE questions than answers.
