OMG. My thoughts and prayers are with her family.

To Everyone who goes out alone,

Please try not to. I know it is impossible at times but at least carry a whistle, pepper spray, something.

I have a long metal heavy baton in my car. Right on my seat.

Sorry, did not mean to derail the thread but I just want everyone to think before they go running or walking alone.

:( Thoughts and prayers for Sherry's family. May they find peace and comfort in one another at this difficult time and cherish forever the memory of their loved one. Rest in peace, Sherry :rose:

So sad.

RIP Sherry :rose:

My sympathies to her family and friends.

Rest in peace Sherry. My thoughts are with her family.

:rose: R.I.P. Sherry

 I am kindof weepy today anyway because of my RL, so this hit me really hard. I am sitting here crying at work. So sorry for Sherry's family, friends, and students!

Could the fact that the FBI office in SLC be a clue? I am in Utah, and I will be watching the presser with interest. How very sad for this little community and her family. My prayers will be with them as they deal with this tragic end.

I'm left to wonder if the fire is somehow related. Wasn't that business just bought by someone new? Or something like that?

FBI spokeswoman Debbie Bertram confirmed that law enforcement officials have taken one man into custody and are questioning another, following an anonymous tip.
Arnold's death comes at the end of two gut-wrenching weeks, said Wade VanEvery, executive director of the Sidney Area Chamber of Commerce and Agriculture.
"I think we're overwhelmed in Sidney right now because we've had a lot of tragedy," Van Every said. "This one is especially close to us because everyone knew Sherry. It's not the kind of thing we ever imagined would happen in Sidney."

article also goes on to describe a string of tragedies that Sidney has experienced over the last month or so....

so sad for everyone in this little town

Mike Brooks was just on HLN and said that the Salt Lake City FBI has not confirmed Sherry's death or that her body has been found. :waitasec:

The local paper reported that the fire was a grease fire. The rumor I have heard is that she was found in Beach, ND. I don't want to get in trouble for gossiping as I haven't read the location yet. But my friends and family living in Sidney have told me she was found 90 miles in Beach, ND. I am waiting for confirmation.

I'm left to wonder if the fire is somehow related. Wasn't that business just bought by someone new? Or something like that?

I had read it was just bought by someone new that took ownership on Jan 1st, I believe. I did see an article this morning saying the fire dept determined the cause to be an "accidental kitchen fire"....I'll see if I can get a link.

here is the salt lake connection: it is where the lead agent was based from that was working the case according to this:

FBI Special Agent in Charge David J. Johnson of the Salt Lake City Division, and Chief of Police Frank DiFonzo of the Sidney Police Department would like to inform the public that there has been a significant development in the investigation of the disappearance of Sherry Arnold. Based on a tip from the public, law enforcement took one adult male into custody, and another adult male is being questioned by police. The investigation to determine what happened to Arnold continues.
