I don't know anything about the area, but what about bodies of water, would that be a possibility? TIA

It doesn't make sense to return the shovel that's for sure, but these two were supposedly on a cocaine high so who knows.

One thing I thought about was the ground harder then they expected or did they find someplace on the way to bury her that did not require the shovel. Maybe this is where LE saying to look in the "wind break lines" iirc and that there could just be debris on her to cover. idk

I am sure they were low on funds to return the shovel, seems it would have been at least 20 bucks, idk

The receipt for the shovel also listed bread and bologna. Returning the shovel, i guess they could buy lots more bologna. MS, in his statement, talked about how LW made him dig the grave ( only 2-3ft) and told him not to leave any cigarette butts around.

The Missouri and Yellowstone flow swift and the ice has many thin spots. However my experience with ice on those rivers leads me to believe that if they tried the rivers we would have three missing people rather than one.

Don't be too quick to presume that Spell is a moron. The court system in Colorado had plenty of time to adjudicate him as mentally defective, but that never happened in spite of psych evaluations. And he was able to evade his upcoming hearing in Colorado by convincing a judge that he was going to Texas to be with an injured brother even though there was no injured brother. His family claims he has a kindergarten education, but these are the same people who were attempting to facilitate his escape back to Colorado.

He may very well have no clue where the body is, and still fall within the range of normal intelligence. Some people have no sense of distance or direction. I have a very good friend with a PhD in psychology. She repeatedly gets lost attempting to drive between Williston and Minot, even with a top of the line GPS system.

"It's turned this little town upside down," said Ron Whited, Arnold's father, who lives on a ranch 25 miles outside of town. "There's evil in the world, and it just happened to touch down in Sidney, Montana on Jan. 7."

"Sidney Schools superintendent Dan Farr, who was trained as a school counselor and worked with Arnold for 13 years, said the continued mystery of her whereabouts has provoked a particular form of grieving called "ambiguous loss" that robs family and friends of closure because there is no body to bury."

Yes.....those pictures depict it almost exactly as it appears right now, minus the little bit of snow that has been blowing around the last couple of days.

Thank you! I looked at areas I'm familiar with and although the copyright is 2012 the pictures are not that current.

The google satellite images for the Williston seem to be very early fall 2011. Probably September. The majority of the flood water has receded, and I see that my brother and I had already taken mom's boat out of the water. My garden tractor is not in mom's yard, it seems to me that I moved that over here in mid September.

By the way, the truck stop marker should be located one mile north.

Thanks!! Must be kind of eerie seeing your home on these maps... just knowing these creeps were near your Mom's house makes me mad.:maddening:

"Right now this case is in state court, with the men facing a kidnapping charge. If her body is found across state lines, it will most likely become a federal case and the men would be charged with murder."
http://www.ktvq.com/news/sherry-arnold-suspects-plead-not-guilty/

Does this mean that without the body there won't be any charges against them for her murder? :what:

btw;love the look on the court officers face as he leads lw out..lol

Aggravated Kidnapping in MT is a capitol offense. If MT keeps the case they don't have to charge them with murder.

Is it Google that is wrong?

I found Walmart on Google using the address 4001 2Nd Ave W and based on the article I linked to: "Reviewed surveillance video form Lonnie's Truck Stop, located across the street from the Walmart" I put in Lonnie's.

I can't find anything on Google called Lonnie's Truck Stop but there is Lonnie's Roadhouse Cafe ... not the same thing? (Only PO box ... what kind of truck stop doesn't provide their address?)

Thank you!

List of truck stops.

Once I found Walmart, and Google adds a marker I choose a Save option that lets me save to a specific map I've created, so it gets placed wherever Google determines it should go.

Okay .... maybe I have it. I know it was my fault they got moved but not sure when I did it. Let me know if this one works.

Is the truck stop across 2nd or across 42nd? TIA

Both Wal-Mart and the truck-stop are on the west side of US 2/85 (2nd Ave). Wal-Mart is on the south side of 42nd st and is easy to spot on the satellite image. It's the huge building west of the highway with the large parking lot. The truck-stop is not easy to see. It is on the north side of 42nd, west of the frontage road. In the image you can't see the struck stop building very clearly, but you can see about 6 trucks and many smaller vehicles south of the building, and numerous trucks parked in a large area north of the building. Between the truck-stop building itself and the frontage road is a white square that does show well in the image. That is the canopy over the fuel pumps. Two trucks can be seen on the frontage road immediately in front of the truck stop fueling canopy, parked facing south on the west side of the frontage road. The southernmost truck as a blue cab, the truck right behind it has a white cab. Both have yellow trailers.

In the satellite image there is a building on the east side of the highway, across from the truck-stop. Google has it labeled "Oil Patch Hot Line." That is not quite correct. The Hot Line office would be a few buildings farther north. Google puts Hollen Auto Body in the middle of the intersection. It is actually in the building marked as Hammer's Auto Service.

The cafe is the truck stop. As far as truck stops go, it is a small one. It's really not much more than a gas station with a small cafe. In the early 1960s when it was built, it was the Husky Truck Stop. In those days it was a big thing. Other than various names over the years it has not changed much.

Here is an old image of the place from 1982. The photo is facing west, taken from the highway. Since then a canopy has been built over the fueling area between the building and the frontage road and more pumps have been added. Otherwise it's pretty much the same now as it was then.

I had an odd thought this morning, wanted to run it by you guys.... what if the perps were trying to be clever, buying the shovel as a ruse. that they actually left her body back in sidney....

I was thinking that they bought it but the ground was too hard to use it and so they took it back. We are about 300 miles south of Williston and the ground is frozen. I'm not sure of ND but here it is in the 60s today; maybe some people can get out on 4 wheelers or horses.

I've been wondering the same thing. Or that they might have put her in water somewhere. There are so many small ponds, creeks, slews, streams, etc., between Sidney and Williston. It got pretty cold a few days after she disappeared and most of them would have frozen over. I just really doubt that they were able to dig very deep with the ground being as hard as it was.

And I wonder if we'll ever find out what they were doing between the time they left Sidney in the morning on January 7th and the time they were were captured on video at Lonnie's and Walmart in Williston later that night. That's alot of time unaccounted for.
