They've been fired. After they arrived in Myanmar.

While this might seem a bit woo and only likely to have influenced a fringe of people, it's important to understand the weight placed on portents and signs in Myanmar culture.

Articles after the quake suggested that it might be seen by many as a sign of the impending downfall of the junta.
