Circumstances of disappearance

Nadine Hertel is eight years old and lives in Leipzig. On June 9, 1995, the young girl and her parents attended a birthday party hosted by her 22-year-old aunt. Aunt Nadine lives in the Schleußig district, about two kilometers from the city center (southwest), in Könneritzstraße. The aunt's apartment is on the ground floor. During the reception, almost all the guests are gathered at the table in the living room. It is exactly 7:40 p.m. when Nadine asks Grandma Rita what time it is; hearing the answer, the girl says: "I'm going to the balcony at grandfather's" then leaves the living room. But Nadine does not reach the balcony. About twenty minutes later, the family realized that the young girl had gotten lost somewhere. Everyone starts looking for him, but in vain. They report your disappearance to the police.

Her aunt's apartment was in a building next to other buildings along the street. From the building you can go directly to the street or to the backyard; on this "backyard" side, there is a balcony where the grandfather lived at that time. Nadine probably didn't go out into the yard because her grandfather would have probably noticed her.

This case really did deserve more attention. I only learned of it today, thanks to your post, @John/Jane Doe.

Here are some articles from German media. These are the main 2 mentions I'm finding in MSM. Not enough, IMO:

From 2007:
She's #9 on this list of missing children

From 2015:

"The Nadine case is one of 30 unsolved missing person cases that were registered by the Leipzig police from 1987 to 2014....There are no longer up to 20 detectives working on the Nadine Hertel case, as was the case shortly after the student's disappearance...In the case of Nadine, “neither an accident nor a crime can still be ruled out...Over the past few years, around 100 tips have been collected about the missing girl, most of them in the period immediately after her disappearance...
