Has Anyone Heard or Does Anyone Know with all the budget cuts if NamUs funding is scheduled to be cut or is on the chopping block?

Seems like something we would want to contact our legislators to prevent

They pulled the funding cut issue the next day, far as I know, they are still funded. They are not shuttering it yet. Funded Poorly, and with a skeleton staff. Their delays are astronomical. You could still contact your congress critters about that, but I doubt it’ll do any good. It’s been like this for a long time.

They were removing all reference to trans or other types of things that the administration has asked to be wiped. But then they restored them, so I'm not sure what the deal is now. There was an outcry that it would make it harder to identify people. (which it would). There's a group collecting all the information out there to make sure it's preserved in case they delete the people again.

.Thank you. SO irked. NAMUS is very important to family members of those who are missing to find closure. Important to law enforcement too.

I know. If it had stayed like that for more than 2 or 3 days I would have lost my mind. But the community pulled together and had a backup plan, too. I'd link it but the site is not approved for WS. It was nicely done, though. Another thing to remember is Charley Project, which *IS* an approved site, is run by one woman - who is an ally - and receives no orders from the government. She will not be removing or changing the people on her site based on executive orders. So even if things happen, we have Charley.

I love Charlie Project. They go above and beyond with information.
