I guess when I heard the search shifted yesterday afternoon to Lake Wheeler and Johnson Lake it became apparent the police were looking for more. These are two lakes Nancy would need to drive to since the roads are not safe to jog along, and neither lake has a jogging trail around them. Now I wonder what the police know and why they shifted the search to the water areas.

Well if hubby was on video buying bleach and not milk or bread then i would say they might suspect the husband.

The body hasn't been identified yet. They're hoping that will be done sometime this morning. They showed her husband thanking the volunteers yesterday. The best friend's name is Clea Morwick. She said that Nancy jogged with a partner a lot but that it wasn't unusual for her to go alone. She said that she knew Carrie, the friend Brad said that she was supposed to be jogging with. Carrie said that they hadn't planned to jog together that day. Megan Kelly asked about marital problems. Clea said that Nancy wouldn't run off on her own--that she would never leave for any reason. She said there was no reason to believe Brad would do anything and that he had been out there as much as anyone else. Nancy wouldn't have taken off for some down time. She always showed up when she said she would. There was no way that she would have gone off to meet someone. The night before she went missing. she mentioned that she was going jogging the next morning. Clea said that she has to be strong for Nancy's family. She's hoping that the body they found isn't Nancy.

The body was sent to the state medical examiner in Chapel Hill. As of 9 a.m. Tuesday, officials were not able to conclude if it was Nancy Cooper, whose husband reported that she went running Saturday morning and never returned.
The examiner will rely upon medical reports to try to identify the body.

After 3 days (2 in hot sun), the body will be badly decomposed.
Dental records will answer the question for sure this am

The police called this a suspicious death and a homicide, but they have no suspect yet. They stated that the public has no reason to be afraid. The body was found on the banks of a storm-water pond on Britt-Aggie Court (This might be spelled wrong.) within a 5-mile radius of her home. It wasn't near a trail. It was near the area where they were searching, but the reporter didn't know if anyone had searched that specific area. Her husband has been cooperative.

They mentioned that this was an isolated case. I think they already suspect that the husband is the murderer.

They are not 'naming' a suspect yet
They found the body off a new cut road near Holly Springs rd (busy road)1 1/2 miles from the house.....obviously driven there

I bet we hear of an arrest at the 5pm news conference

Doesn't the statement the public has no reason to be afraid is indicating they know who the person is and who most likely did it? Otherwise I would think they would increase our awareness for anyone or anything suspicious in the area. There are hundreds of homes on the other side of Holly Springs Road.

I think you are right about an arrest and it sounds like it will be the husband. What a horrible thing for her 2 little girls, now they wont have any parents.:furious:

I beleive if she was attacked while jogging, they would have to warn residents. Its very telling.

I have a strong feeling her husband Brad has something to do with this. The police are in possession of a video with Brad early Saturday morning at a local store. He told the police he went to get milk and bread at 6am. The video has Brad buying detergent with bleach and/or bleach actually purchased at 4am. Redacted statement I feel this is a cruical piece of evidence indicating something had occured. As I searched with my children yesterday in the construction areas along Kildaire Farm Rd and in the Bluffs Nature park in the pouring rain, I kept hope to hear her yell out for help that the rain would stimulate her.

Well hopefully that will allow this 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 to be charged with reckless endangerment for leaving a 4 year old and 2 year old home alone while he went to seek the means to mop up their Mom's DNA- makes me sick.
That video tells me this creep killed her accidentally Friday evening, probably during an argument after the dinner/cocktail party.

Bless you for volunteering to search for her with your children, I dont know how old they are but I have taught mine that things like this do happen; Im sorry for you and the other volunteers/family on here it turned out this way.

I don't think they will arrest him without a confession until the ME has completed at least the first part of the autopsy and the evidence collected ties him directly. I do think they will name him as their primary suspect, he'll lawyer up if he has not already, and arrest him when they are able given the evidence. They have been very cautious so far to protect a successful prosecution. However, if those babies are still with him, I guarantee he is under tight surveillance. People faced with nothing else to live for do horrific things.

I SINCERELY hope that they are discussing the fact that he needs to turn the children over to Nancy's parents immediately, based on him leaving them alone when he said he was with them would be enough; I'm concerned for their safety in his care.

I can't believe how this keeps happening over and over and over. Every time I hear a new one, I hold my breathe and hope they find the woman alive and that the husband didn't do it. At first glance the husband can appear so innocent and distraught and concerned and cooperative. But within one or two days, the husband, IF he did it, begins to incriminate himself. The pattern is one played over and over and over. This case isn't any different.

Last night I read the thread and just shook my head and felt a sadness for this wife and mother and for her children. I don't KNOW for sure if the husband did it. I know we always suspect the SO at first glance. What points to him doing this, IF that's Nancy? at least to me.

1. He said in his interview she was never out of touch on her jogs for more than one, two hours tops. (in other words)

YET, he did NOT call LE after she'd allegedly been gone SIX HOURS!

2. The husband did NOT call LE, but a friend did.

TYPICAL MO of these cases.

3. He offered 'information' before it was asked.

They were having minor marital problems. (didn't elaborate)

4. This morning we find out he'd been out and about in the early morning hours, buying cleaning supplies?

The clean-up had begun BEFORE she was known to be missing.

5. Her purse was located in the car.

It wouldn't be suspicious if it was in the house, but, NOT in the car, IMO.

6. Nancy seemed a little out of sorts the last night she was seen.

Nancy said she was 'tired.' IMO, either she was upset at her hubby and didn't want to say anything, or..............who knows, maybe she was pregnant and he didn't want any more kids. (just MY thought in the grand scheme of what we've observed in many previous cases, sorry, and I am NOT trying to start a 'rumor')

7. IF this is Nancy, she was found in a location she would NOT have been.

8. Husband said she went jogging with someone else he did NOT know. Turns out she did NOT. Perhaps he thought just like with the Stebic case, this alleged third party would never be located, not known to any of her friends.

This is NEVER going to stop. I'm just sick over this. All these beautiful lives gone for what?

Hello All,

It's been a long time since I joined in here but I'm interested in keeping up with this case and this seems the place to do it. Thanks to everyone for all the links and the tid bits of info. UIf ya'll don't mind I'd like to join in the discussion and keep up with the case here. I'm a long time member from back in the Peterson East and West trials and now mostly the Michelle Young murder. It's good th be back.

Yes, it does indicate LE most likely KNOWS who the perp is. We've seen this same thing MANY times here. I think we all know who the most likely person who's arrested will probably be.

During the Peterson case, we tried to guess how quickly MPD caught on to Scott. It took us many months learning details just here and there. But the closest we came was the first 4 hours.

In fact, they were on to him within MINUTES. Something wasn't right and the first person they called was a homocide detective, when in fact they normally weren't called until 72HOurs had passed.

The ONLY reason there was a delay in arresting SP, was the DA wanted the MPD to continue to look for and locate Laci.

We all know how that story ended.

The thing that gets me, in EVERY case like this, in retrospect, ultimately someone says .. Well we never thought he was capable of that, but there was that one time....

OR

The woman puts up with an abusive situation thinking it will never escalate and stays in it for the children. I have no basis to make that allegatin here, but I think of Neil Entwistle- The guy was an absolute con artist, people knew it, his wife knew some of it and she and her baby ended up being shot by a gun owned by her own father-

What is the answer? As Fran said, I stayed up till 4am sickened for this woman and her children.

What is our message of awareness here for those that need to hear it?

Thanks Blink34 and I followed the Entwistle case too. I watched every minute of the trial (even though I was at work - don't tell the boss). I don't understand how these women get involved with the kind of men. I wish I knew what to say - what message to spread so that women could recognize and steer clear of them. Sadly it is so hard to detect these sociopaths until you're caught in their web.
