Ah Blink, I do NOT think we'll ever be able to STOP this from happening. Like you said, most of these guys have several acquaintances and friends and family who'll say they 'never thought they (he) was capable of this and never saw it coming.'

So often times, the abuse only manifests itself in ways that people on the outside may not even know about. The biggest being 'control.' Often times the wife will 'hide' that portion. Like with the Peterson case,.......I could see it looking from the outside looking in, but her friends and family were completely oblivious to it. FWIW, I was even blown away by that case in the beginning, I never dreamed a guy could sleep right next to his loving and very pregnant wife, all the while plotting her and the child's (his very own baby boy) demise.

I've known a few 'victims' of abusive relationships. About the only thing we can do is educate them and hope for the best. Fortunately, the ones I knew managed to get away..............although one was a mighty close call from appearing here on Websleuths!

HI! Newbie here. Been reading here for a long time and just decided to join up since IS went away. I have been following many of my hometown NC stories, sad to say, plus a few others.

The most telling thing to me is her purse left in the car.
Of course it could happen, but how likely is it that the night before she goes missing that she forgot her purse? Our purses are like our third hand.
Maybe a mother getting two kids out of the car at night might forget, but do we know if the kids were with them that night?

Also, I have re-read this thread and checked my favorite news sites and didn't find any mention to the store trip of the husband. I will admit I skimmed them pretty fast. Wonder if anyone could help me out with a link.

Thanks for having me here!

We are not sure it's her yet.....a little hope here???? It IS someone...but, it has not yet been confirmed the body found was Nancy Cooper. Right??

I am trying to remain optimistic thinking of the precious children and losing both parents so swiftly if this is Nancy and their dads possible involvement. Nancy could have jogged Cary Pkwy which has miles of sidewalks and is located only hundreds of feet from her home. I know I am grasping at straws and wish I didn't need to.

I am sorry to you and all who are waiting news. (((((((((((((((((momto3kids))))))))))))))))))

I'm trying very hard to be optimistic but as time goes by and more and more "little" things are leaked to the press and then to the public, I feel my optimism fading fast. If there was another missing woman some where near by then I'd be more inclined to have hope that this particular body is not Nancy.

Sweetyhide welcome!! That info has not been made public yet.

PLease tell them from us that volunteering to help a family in need is the greatest gift they could give them, how proud you must be.

Hi Sweetyhide...the store information will come out during questioning. Police don't disclose all the information they have gathered. My guess is they have this in their back pocket to make a stronger case. They want him to continue talking and not let him know they are double checking behind him. He was probably present when the purse was found and supplied an excuse so they gave the info out. There is no asking Nancy the real reason it was there. But the video at the store won't lie and has concrete evidence of time and purchase.
I still say the traffic video will be a major source of information if they are continually run with footage. I don't think he was smart enough to go down Lilly Atkins Road to bypass the light.

You've provided some incredible information.

As for the purse in the car being suspicious, honestly, I didn't find that to be an eyebrow raiser. My wife does that all the time. When you have multiple kids (I have 4), and you're in and out of the car multiple times a day running errands, taking kids to dance, soccer, play dates, school, etc., it's a pain to drag the purse in and out of the car every single time you enter and exit. That's my wife's stance anyway.

In case some of the posters have not seen this slide show - Nancy's girls are beauties.

Those pictures brought tears to my eyes. Nancy has the most beautiful smile, and her daughters are adorable too. The pictures of her w/her children remind me of Michelle Young's picture with her daughter, Cassidy. There's so much joy and love between them! I hope that's the only similarity between the Young case, and Nancy missing.

My mom and I have often left our purses in the (locked) cars, in the (locked) garage, so I too don't find it odd.

It's the OTHER details that make me suspicious: hubby saying they had marital problems, him not worrying about her being gone so long, friend called police...

I hope we find out soon that they have identified the body- whoever it is, they need to be indentified.

I totally agree. I've let my purse in my car(in the garage) a few times before, especially if she had errands to do or whatnot that day, I don't find it too odd. I just can't understand why the husband did not report her missing. That seems extremely odd, in my opinion. If my husband went out running and wasn't back at 2pm(the time she was reported missing), I absolutely would call the police myself, if not before then.

It's definitely a red flag that he didn't report her missing. What's more of a smoking gun (if true) is that he supposedly told LE that he went to the store at 6am and bought milk/bread, but actually went at 4am and bought some sort of detergent with bleach. Ding, ding, ding! We have our suspect.

Having gone through a seperation and a divorce I can say that I didn't communicate my every move with my ex and certainly didn't feel that I needed to let him keep up with my personal schedule. It's posible they were at this stage in their relationship.

Exactly. Who goes to the store at 4am to buy bleach?

New article, posted 20 minutes ago ... but nothing substantial new..

"The couple's two daughters, ages 2 and 4, have been staying with their father and family – Cooper's parents and identical sister, according to Boone."
