Star,

I agree with you on this, Nancy's purse was in the X5 and so was her cell phone. Reddress has supplied the most plausible theory IMO for why those items were in the X5. What we do know for certain is the purse was removed from the X5 by LE. I'm inclined to believe the cell phone was found in the purse. As to Jessica Adam knowing, it is my opinion that Brad told her because it follows the KISS theory, which more often than not is correct. Now the question for me is how did Brad know if he told JA. He was busy with two little ones and postponing his tennis match and then canceling it. But it never concerned him Nancy had not returned. Maybe he was just happy to cancel that tennis match aye ?

Well, maybe it went something like this. When JA called Brad she told him she had been calling NC's cell phone but no one answered. That concerned her. Maybe Brad said something to the effect that, "Oh, she must have left it in the car, otherwise I would have heard it ringing and ringing and would have answered it." Or, "I never heard it ring; it must be in the car."

Just thinking out loud. CarolinaLady is right, though, it is a curious point.

Yes, milk at 6:15, detergent & juice at 6:45 (remember he says Nancy called him at 6:40 about the juice).

ETA, it's pretty light at 6:30am (that's when I go running).

Also added, checked the almanac, sunrise was 6:08am on 7/12.

What does ETA mean? What is IIRC?

I know we've discussed before how she would know it was in the car. Did she look? Did Brad tell her it was in the car? She's not at the Cooper's house when she places the call as someone pointed out she would've know the address right away if she was at the house. She says in the affidavit that she and Mary Anderson drove over to meet the police at the house.

I agree that is definitely a curious point.
Hi! :) I haven't had time to post much lately, but still read through the posts and I am still wondering about this too. I can't see why Brad would've told her where Nancy's cell phone was, unless it was to answer something that JA said like she'd been trying to call Nancy and didn't get an answer. On the other hand, if the car was left outside, and the phone was in the car, maybe JA could see it in the car? Maybe she did go by and looked inside the car before calling 911?

IIRC..wasn't it said BC told JA he had been trying to get up with NC??

If it is like our home with a lost cell phone...you call it. JA probably went up to the car, saw the purse, called the cell. Ring, ring, ring can be heard outside the window or if it was in the console it would have been blinking when a call comes in.

I still say it was planted by BC so he could tell the LE he had been trying to call NC himself but she didn't answer. He just happened to not think about looking in the car. :waitasec:

I don't know he said he was trying to get up with NC or not. But, I thought it was understood she did not have anything with her while running. I can't recall how I got that impression; I may be wrong. So that seems conflicting.

If JA went up to the car and hung around she had a lot more guts than I probably would have. I have a hard time envisioning that.

It does seem plausible the phone was planted.

Susan Crook is now speaking for many of the neighbors around Nancy and Brad's area. According to Susan Crook, several of Nancy's friends met Carey for the first time Saturday the day Nancy went missing. She indicates that Carey told them right then there was no plan to run with Nancy and that she did not run with Nancy that morning. Ms. Crook also indicates that LE was made aware of this right away.

For some reason I think her keys were inside and her cell in the car. I am sure someone on here remembers where it was said.

As for JA going up to the car, I would in a heart beat. Her adrenaline was racing, emotions were high....many people do things they would never do when confronted with panic.

She had a friend with her, Diana lives across the street, she knew BC was gone looking for NC, and the police were on their way.

What a perfect excuse BC had to tell the LE when they pull up...I'd been trying to call her officer and she hasn't answered.

Perfect alibi why he couldn't get up with her. IMO

I have said from day 1 the purse is 1 of my red flags and still do... more now than ever after the 911 calls.

I wonder if Carey did actually cancel Friday morning like BC said???

Another lie perhaps?

Dunno - why plan to run one day at 5:45 am and 7 ish the next time. Hot both days seems to me.

I am always very cautious with my belongings. I never ever leave anything of value visible in my car.

Yeah, uh huh. I just realized the other day that I have a purse in my car that I am not using at the moment, and while there really is nothing of any value in it, the purse itself being more valuable than the contents, I DO have some items in that purse.

And the other day I was getting ready to leave my house, and took my laptop and purse out and put them in the car, unlocked, and came back inside for about 20 minutes.

Cary is such a safe community I never even thought about it until I got back into the car. Now, Raleigh is another matter. I would never have done that when I lived in Raleigh. And my doors are locked every time I walked away from my car in Raleigh.

For what it's worth for clarification, JA's affidavit states that Brad said: "Do you have Carrie's phone number? Nancy is still not back and I'm trying to get hold of her". That's just the affidavit, not the words from the Fox interview. But I don't think he was trying to call Nancy on her cell phone. I re-read his affidavit again, too, and he doesn't state that he tried to call Nancy on her cell phone.

I know 20 minutes is a slight risk, and many of us do it. I admit I do it also if I know I am headed back out to my car.
If NC left her purse and contents in the car overnight it was a huge risk considering the high # of break-ins in the area. NC couldn't afford (had to borrow $ for groc.) to replace the items or $$ in her purse with the tight budget she was on. I don't believe NC would be that careless.

IMO it was put there by BC.

Why do you think he put it there?

I don't know how BC could think NC just 'went out somewhere' after "running" {wink-wink} when she had neither her purse nor her cell phone. She couldn't have bought herself a cup of coffee! no money! So where could she have gone with no car, no purse/wallet, no cell phone?

He didn't report her missing because, IMHO, he knew she wasn't "missing." She was right where he dumped her...off of Fielding Drive sometime very early that morning.

I understand that to be he had tried NC...'hold of her'. That is the reason he was going to try to call Carey because NC was not responding to him..when he tried to get a hold of her.

Of course, we have no tape of the phone call, but I wonder if JA became alarmed at something in BC's voice and/or manner of speech, as well.

She certainly was upset in the 911 call.

BTW, I can no longer get the WRAL version of that call, but the Cary LE version seems like it's been edited.

He was using Carey. Wasn't CC suppose to pick NC up Friday morning @ 5:45? He's using Sat. morning as a possible make-up day since CC cancelled on Fri.

IMO he is going to say he didn't know her purse and cell were in the car and that's the reason she didn't answer. She wouldn't need her keys if CC picked her up.

He is trying to get his alibi together why he couldn't locate NC when he tried.
