I thought I would mention the photo thread is almost bare! Please feel free to add photos taken in the case. It helps to visually see the areas we are discussing. If the locals want to add their own photos taken in the area, it would be great. *With other photos from the media, make sure to include the link back to the source.

I am thrilled to see the photos posted of the cul de sac. Also, some really good photos of the BMW being processed.
Thanks!!!!

I only started the threads so people would know where to put things for quick reference. I know several have taken time to add to them. Lots of thanks goes to them! Keep it up!

This case is going to expand as we get deeper into it. If and when an arrest is made and legal proceedings start...to have the initial pieces of the case in place helps a great deal. It is frustrating to hear about something in trial only to have to dig through 20 threads to find it. It is why we spread it all out in a forum. Easier to reference and also to keep up with the case for those who get behind after a day or so. (The general dicussion thread is like reading a novel at times after work. Pages and pages quickly add up!)

Frankly, I am shocked the BMW SUV was not towed to a secure location at the SBI. The cops immediately took possession of Jason Young's SUV and kept it for nearly 3 months.

On Wednesday a memorial will be held for Nancy Cooper at Grace Lutheran Church at 99 Avenue and 114 Street at 1 p.m

Brad Cooper's lawyer, Seth Blum, told reporters in Cary, North Carolina on Monday that his client will not be attending his wife's funeral in Canada.

"He doesn't want to distract from Nancy's memory," said Blum. "He wants the focus to be on her, not him. He plans a private service here with friends."

Hmmm-- he obviously is 'free' to leave NC, unless this is a red herring by the lawyer. Sure is disrespectful.

I would respectfully add to "fax" post that the "suspect" has a constitutionally protected right (as we all do) to be told by LE that he/she IS A SUSPECT prior to questioning to envoke their right to counsel. While they are not obligated to tell the public first, they absolutely must tell the potential suspect.

Your statement is true if the 'suspect' is being held in custody....he was free to leave at any time during the interview.
Cops are only required to warn an individual whom they intend to subject to custodial interrogation at the police station or when detained.

I have to agree. I was surprised, too. We haven't seen the other vehicle in photos and while it could be in the garage...could it be they did take it in?

Fax~ Can I ask if you are an Atty or LE (you don't have to answer)? I might have missed you saying earlier. You seem to know a few things about that aspect and I am just curious.

Neither.
I have carefully followed the nearby Michelle Young murder and just picked up info also applicable to this case.

Since everything is sealed, it is possible they took custody of the BMW sedan and we just don't know about it.

In the latest WRAL piece, Brad's own attorney states that Brad is a "mess." What does that say about his fitness to parent?

LE says they will look to the civil custody action in light of the criminal investigation. And he may be asked to testify in the custody case? Why would his attorney have him there?

Do you suppose Friday's hearing will be open?

Ah, OK! Makes sense. I have learned a lot studying cases, too. Things I never thought I would be researching for any reason.

Courtroom 8-B is used for divorce and custody cases.
The court is open to the public.

I can't imagine his attorney would allow him to answer the allegations presented by Nancy's family under oath.

I have sat in 8-B too many hours. And neither can I imagine that scenario. But as for it being open, the notoriety of the case makes me wonder.

Or, the hearing could be held in chambers.

Since the order said courtroom 8-B, it will be open court...not heard in chambers.

And weren't Drew Peterson's cars, without a body even being found?

I have a question about the search warrants. They're sealed until Aug. 16 when the judge's order expires. Can the order be extended? I don't see the point of sealing it now to prevent the information coming out before trial and allowing it in a month.

Yes. Like the Eve Carson Case, the judge will rule in 30 days and can very well extend the sealed warrants another 30, 60 or indefinitely.

I would suspect that based on the information in the custody filing, since it was mentioned that he could be a flight risk, that LE most likely confiscated his passport and have advised his lawyer and him as well that he is not to leave the US. I doubt his lawyer would ever admit that publically, at least not now. I also suspect LE is keeping tabs on him.

Thanks so much :) I thought so but wasn't sure.
