ANNETTE SYKES, GREAT-GRANDMOTHER: I had gone by to take some of the children`s clothes that I had to take home to wash, and I took them by there to drop them off. And the children were sitting on the front porch eating supper, and Misty was sitting there with them.

They jumped down and ran out to the car to see me when I got out. And I hugged them and kissed them, and we took the clothes in the house. And then I hugged and kissed them good-bye and told them I loved them.

CASAREZ: Ms. Sykes, I`m sure you have such mixed emotion, so grateful that you got to see Haleigh that night.

What was she wearing? What was she like? What did she say to you?

SYKES: She just hollered "Granny! Granny!" And put her plate down, her and Bubba (ph) both sitting right out in the car.

And she didn`t have her shirt on, and I told her to get her shirt back on. She was real about taking her shirt off. She was real hot-natured. And I told her to get her shirt on. Her and Bubba (ph) put their shirts on while I was there.

CASAREZ: What time was this?

SYKES: About 7:30.

CASAREZ: Was anything said that night that maybe Misty was going out, or anything was going to happen that night, future plans?

SYKES: Nothing. They were just -- the children, like I say, were sitting there eating supper. And she was sitting smoking a cigarette out on the porch. And they were telling me what she had fixed them to eat for supper, green beans.

CASAREZ: Yes. Green beans?

SYKES: Haleigh loved them.

I find it interesting that she has to say why Haleigh had her shirt off, she was "hot-natured" but does not say why Jr had his shirt off.

"was" hot natured

Bet GMA would be shocked if someone put all her stories together & someone questioned her inconsistencies.

I still remember when TN said she sent someone in the family to check on the kids & that was proof that Misty was there all night. I knew then that whoever that was had some missing links or knew something.

I would imagine LE has 'all of their stories together'.
They don't seem to be questioning any of them though.
Tells me LE doesn't feel like they're lying or inconsistent. That's the opinion I'm sticking with.

The Croslin crew however are another story.

Chiblis, You have no idea how many times I have read that quote and did not catch the past tense.

She was real hot-natured

So it would make sense then she could not say why Jr did not have his shirt on in that sentence!!! She would have had to have said Jr "is still hot natured" for his excuse. She caught herself making the mistake.

"She was real hot-natured. And I told her to get her shirt on. Her and Bubba (ph) put their shirts on while I was there."

It was over a year after first saying she went by the trailer with clean clothes, that GGM referenced the "no shirts" addition to her initial story.

The first time we heard about "no shirts" was 4/22/2010 on NG and GGM said MISTY, not the children, put their shirts back on:

ANNETTE SYKES, HALEIGH`S GREAT-GRANDMOTHER: I stopped by about 7:30 to drop off some laundry that I had done. I always did the children`s laundry just because it`s something I`ve always done. And the children were on the front porch with Misty. They were eating supper. And when we drove up, Haleigh jumped out of her chair and come running up and gave me a hug. And Junior came out and gave me a hug, and I gave them a kiss. And Misty walked out. She helped carry some of the clothes into the house and got the children`s shirts on, and they got back up to eat supper. I gave them a kiss, told them good-bye, and I got back in the car and left.

How do you describe a 5 yr. old. not that she was hot natured. that is very strange. Was used to describe the no shirt, changing shirt scenario. We have to figure that out. IMO no kids would sit on front porch, in Feb. with no shirts. What does that mean?

Must feel bad to be pcso about now, but I guess not bad enough to call in FBI or FDLE.

So that covers Misty not knowing what shirt Haleigh was wearing when she went missing since the kids just put on their own shirts and Misty was not paying attention.

It would have been nice if Haleigh's mother had been on the show. She could have told us if Haleigh and Jr were hot natured.

The Croslin crew however are another story.

The Croslins were not family in February of 2009 when Haleigh was reported as being abducted and they are NOT family NOW.

LE recently stated..

"It's been clear from day one that the contradicting statements from the family members are not the truth," said Capt. Johnny Greenwood, spokesman for the Putnam County Sheriff's Office.

This video is the interview on 2/19/2009 where, beginning at the 4:53 mark, GGM Sykes first told about going to the trailer on 2/9/2009 and seeing the children on the porch.

http://www.wftv.com/video/18748628/index.html

-Not a word about Misty being on the porch with the children

-Not a word about Misty helping carry in the laundry

-Not a word about eating green beans

-Not a word about the children having no shirts on

The details of the story were considerably enhanced in the version told on the Nancy Grace show on 4/22/2010:

ANNETTE SYKES, HALEIGH`S GREAT-GRANDMOTHER: I stopped by about 7:30 to drop off some laundry that I had done. I always did the children`s laundry just because it`s something I`ve always done. And the children were on the front porch with Misty. They were eating supper. And when we drove up, Haleigh jumped out of her chair and come running up and gave me a hug. http://transcripts.cnn.com/TRANSCRIP.../22/ng.01.html

-Her arrival time is now stated as 7:30 pm instead of 7:00 pm.

-Misty is now out on the porch "with" the children.

-Misty now comes out and helps GGM carry in the laundry.

-The children are now revealed as having no shirts on and Misty puts the shirts on the children.

In the version told on the NG show on 3/1/2011, the story is even further embellished:

ANNETTE SYKES, GREAT-GRANDMOTHER: I had gone by to take some of the children`s clothes that I had to take home to wash, and I took them by there to drop them off. And the children were sitting on the front porch eating supper, and Misty was sitting there with them.

-Misty is not just out on the porch with them, she is smoking a cigarette.

-The children, NOT MISTY, put their own shirts back on because GGM told them to.

-"No shirts" is explained as "she WAS real hot natured".

-The children's meal now consists of nutritionally sound green beans.

-Why? Because we find out "Haleigh loved them"

Ironically, I found a comment made by Teresa Neves regarding Misty during this show to be rather interesting:

NEVES: I believe that would be about the fourth story. You know, some of the stories, the inconsistencies.

Ironically, I found a comment made by Teresa Neves regarding Misty during this show to be rather interesting:
IMO, & I respect the masses who don't agree with me, LE has made it very clear, since the beginning, that they don't suspect Misty or a stranger. & they think it's someone known to Misty & or Ron. That narrows down the field, considerably. I'm sure TN has heard the same statements we have, so when she talks about Misty's changing stories, who is she directing her suspicion towards? 'the key'? During the drug sentencings, some of Haleigh's family made some pretty bold statements about Misty's involvement & what should be done to her..she's a witch, is responsible, should be hung, etc.... When TN talks about Misty's changing stories, well...that leaves me speechless. Ron, & others have also changed stories, (the gun fight for starters), & TN herself, has changed her own tune concerning Misty...over & over. So, if she expects LE to look at Misty because of HER changed stories, what does she want LE to do with the rest of the story changers? ignore them? Did anyone on this particular episode, address Ron's deal & his admission regarding the gun? MOO.

I am left with a picture thought of Haleigh sitting on the steps/porch with a plate on her lap, waving at her GMA and friende as they drive up. We are told Haleigh and jr were eating. Now we hear Haleigh was not wearing a top. It was dark and pretty cold. We are also told that misty helped AS bring all the freshly laundered clothes into the house. I must assume the person sitting in the car said and did nothing.

Why didn't misty recall this chunk of time and weed it into her visitor questions? From the start, misty never mentioned this...and IT is the most important part of her alibi...hmm.

I agree Whisp, this little detail would've been the most important part of Misty's alibi..So why didn't she include it in her original statement?

Maybe Misty felt that she didn't need an alibi for that particular time of the evening because she didn't arrive until much later? I always felt that Teresa and Annette assumed that GMSykes claiming to see Misty that evening would account for Misty being there all night long. As if there was no possibility that Misty could've left after GMSykes visit. Misty's own brother claims that Misty was not there around 10pm. IMO, GMSykes visit was inserted for a reason and it had nothing to do with providing an alibi for Misty. Ron maybe but not Misty. This insertion caused Misty to change her story once again...clearly....to fit the story put out there by Teresa and Annette. jmo

BBM..I wholeheartedly agree and most definitely believe her visit was inserted to provide an alibi for her grandson...JMHO

Wish we knew why somebody had to check on the kids. I say rc called him mother and set the ball rolling. IMO, it is obvious also from that first interview with TN that there was a very good reason she sent a "family member" to check on the kids...OH,,and also delvier laundry. TN is vague in her interviews..which, in my mind, tells me she is witholding information.

Whisp, remember the story about Ron calling Annette and she didn't answer so Teresa had to contact her? IIRC, it was said following the 911 call but IMO this communication happened much earlier in the evening. My gut tells me that something happened to Haleigh much earlier in the evening and naturally Ron tried to contact Annette first considering he may have been closer to the woman who raised him and closer to her in distance. When he could not reach Annette IMO he contacted Teresa...who in turn found her mother and sent her over to the mh until she could get there, especially living so far away at the time. I wonder why GMSykes ran with the story of dropping off laundry when Teresa said she sent her over to check on the kids? Were they afraid they would have to explain why someone needed to check on the kids? Why would Teresa have to tell GMSykes to take clean laundry over there to the mh? It just doesn't make sense to me.

So that covers Misty not knowing what shirt Haleigh was wearing when she went missing since the kids just put on their own shirts and Misty was not paying attention.

Hey doc, but what about Misty claiming that she gave the children baths that evening? Did they take the bath before they ate? If not, how would Misty not know what shirt Haleigh was wearing regardless of what shirt GMSykes claim was put on Haleigh while she was there a little before 8pm?

If Misty lied about giving them baths that still doesn't explain why Misty didn't know what shirt Haleigh was wearing if she was there during GMSykes visit. Misty and GMSykes description of the shirt would be the same. jmo

The words, "I believe" weakens the entire statement. She has done this on most important questions, from what I have observed.
