An 84-year-old woman who was reported missing in Arizona has been identified by officials as the mother of "Today" show host Savannah Guthrie.

The Pima County Sheriff’s Department announced during a news conference on Sunday that Nancy Guthrie was last seen in the Catalina Foothills area on Saturday night at approximately 9:45 p.m.

Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos said a family member reported her missing on Sunday, around noon.

Nanos said search and rescue teams have been out at Nancy Gutherie's home, along with homicide teams and detectives.

Foul play has not been ruled out at this time.

KOLD receives two messages regarding Nancy Guthre​

KOLD received the first ransom note at approximately 5 p.m. Monday, news director Jessica Bobula told NewsNation. The station sent it directly to investigators and did not report on it until authorities issued a joint statement with the FBI acknowledging they were aware of ransom note reports.

The second message arrived at 11:45 a.m. Friday, also through the station’s tip submission system. Unlike the first communication, this message made no new demands and provided no proof of life that the Guthrie family has desperately sought, Bobula said.

Message may be alarming but why no proof of life? Without proof of life after Thursday deadline passed means to me that the ransom demands are a separate person than who is responsible for taking NG.

On or about February 4, 2026, shortly after the video was published, A.C. and T.C., the daughter and son-in-law of N.G., both separately received a text message from the following phone number xxxxxx0552 (the "0552 Number") stating: "Did you get the bitcoin were [sic] waiting on our end for the transaction". A.C. and T.C. received these texts while in Arizona.Law enforcement was able to determine through open-source methods that the 0552 Number was associated with a voice over internet protocol (VOIP) text and call application that allows users to obtain another phone number for their mobile device separate from the number assigned to them by their wireless carrier.
Law enforcement submitted an emergency disclosure request for the 0552 Number. Based on the records provided for the 0552 Number was registered to the following email address: xxxxxx.com. The records also indicated that the 0552 Number had been accessed from the following IP address: xxxxxx103 (the "103 IP Address") at approximately 6:02 p.m. on February 4,2026. Law enforcement submitted an emergency disclosure request to the internet provider for the 103 IP Address and determined that the 103 IP address was associated with CALLELLA's residence in California.
