“When I covered the Luigi Mangione case before we knew who he was, I covered it for this network for News Nation. He was arrested based off of photos that showed his eyes and nothing else and his backpack,” Caitlyn Becker, New York Post senior correspondent and podcast host, told NewsNation. “So, it is very plausible that someone will recognize this person and be able to call in for an arrest. We’ve seen it happen before. “
The Guthrie suspected kidnapper is pictured on the left in a ski mask. Luigi Mangione is pictured on the right in a surgical face mask.
''The Guthrie suspect, unlike Mangione, possibly left behind a glove. A black glove was found at Guthrie’s property, and it may or may not belong to the suspect. If it does, it’s a crucial piece of evidence that could lead to an arrest.
“Is this piece of evidence a piece of evidence that is crucial or germane to the case that they’re investigating,” Becker said. “Or is it just a glove? Is it just something someone dropped?”
Becker theorized that the suspect is not a professional. “This is just amateur hour here,” she said.''
