AZ Nancy Guthrie, 84, (mother of TODAY Show host Savannah Guthrie) missing - last seen in the Catalina foothills area on Jan 31, 2026

I read earlier that someone saw she was wearing an apple watch in one of the videos. Would her cell phone be connected to the watch? If so the med. indications (heart rate etc) may determine the timing of the attack, as well as anything subsequent.....

I also thought of a manual or automatic fall notification such a safety call if she has a fall or breathing stopped or was interrupted, or automatic notification if it detects she has fallen. But in this case it doesn't make sense because they would have known immediately if something had happened to her

Looks like they're checking her backyard and hopefully the surrounding area near her home. If, they've already done this, no harm in checking it again.

I think Savannah’s siblings live in AZ. Do either of them have teenaged or young adult kids? I just can’t imagine an elderly woman answering the door to a stranger at night. Feels like a very close to home crime to me.

I wonder if she uses any rideshare types of transportation to get to places like church?

The door being left open is not a good sign. Has it been confirmed whether she had pets? Just wondering how she managed, particularly a dog, if she has mobility issues, and whether any pets were outside due to the open door? Not that it matters, I was just wondering.

She clearly left in a hurry. Whatever the evidence is, it must not be anything that one would immediately notice and think foul play was involved (like blood or broken glass, etc.). Otherwise, her family would have immediately called 911 rather than searching for her first. IMO.
Good point about the possibility of pets.
Would a neighbor have heard a dog barking or any unusual noises around the house ?

She may have answered the door thinking it was whomever had just dropped her off. I can see where someone would do that.

but were all her debit and credit cards still in it? yet to be known IMO
Right?! Like if I left my wallet on the counter I don't know if someone found it if they would know how many cards I had in there and which ones were missing. But that requires a level of...forethought? Like you're anticipating someone's gonna go through it, but if you took ATM card, you had to know that there's cameras. this is all very interesting

Searchers are back and checking the surrounding area. Wondering if they have info leading.

Since we saw in the photos she had a smart watch how long would it take for the digital info to be available to investigators if they don't have access to her passwords?

Says "all personal belongings, including a 1021 in wallet and vehicle, are still there."

What is a 1021?

Thanks!

A neighbor also reported the front door was left open. Wouldn't the family think that was suspicious?

It is my understanding that there is evidence of a crime scene so the door left open could have been opened before or after.

I just really don't get the whole taking her from her home thing. If it was a robbery and she interrupted, they could tie her up/restrain her and finish what they came for or take her to try to get her to go to ATMs, or kill her and leave her body there. If it were for ransom I would have expected a ransom demand by now so I am sort of ruling that out. If they took her to try to get more money from her via bank or credit cards, why not just let her go somewhere, drop her off on a random street corner?

I am really worried she has met her end and that her body has been hidden God only knows where

I think LE can check on what credit cards a person has by looking up their information using known information like SSN, etc. It might require a search warrant, I suppose, but I think LE can determine fairly easily and quickly what credit and bank cards a missing person has.

They can. LE contacted me at work one day because an employee had reported an Amex card stolen and LE found in their search that they had 2 Amex cards and one was a business card from our company.

Long story but the dude was stupid to report this is all I'm going to say.

My brain agrees with you, but my heart doesn't want to yet.

Could she have walked out for whatever reason after returning home, and had a medical episode?

Hi there - first time posting here. This story really caught my attention, especially since I used to live right across the main street from where Nancy lives. This may have already been mentioned, but while looking at her Facebook profile, I noticed she shared a lot of political posts and I sincerely hope none of that played any role.
