They would not have taken the time to do that. Have we ever seen a killer use a gurney in a home
I would think they would take direction from the FBI.
In most states, sheriffs are an elected officials & are only accountable to voters or the community at large. For the most part, they do not answer to a mayor, county officials, etc.

I agree and have seen former LE/FBI etc stating he should keep it zipped!

It's not adding to investigation imo and LE should gag it.

A crucial aspect of ransom being effective is it's secrecy.

An angle to this that isn't really considered is that since the original ransom was sent to TMZ, and since the FBI appears to think it was authentic, that Harvey might be used to convey the message that someone is selling the conspiracy out and throwing someone under the bus. Paranoia breeds errors.

With just a 10ft (or so) radius they might just as well be grid searching.

What has stopped full-scale area searching that occurs usually in the last place a person was known to be ??

Searches happened first day or so then called off. Did LE have really good reason to believe Ms Guthrie would not be located in surrounding area from the beginning and, if so, How ?

And...could this have been a huge mistake...
The pacemaker battery is limited to send its signal…however, (I think) a phone can be boosted to receive 30-70 feet.

Interesting, but if it was staged, how would the guy know that google could reproduce it after the camera had been removed?
While listening to an investigator on YouTube and from what I understood, Even though the perp removed the camera, his picture was already taken and it did nothing for him to take the camera. It is reported she didnt buy a service agreement but the investigator said pictures are still saved randomly. I dont know.

Would it be possible to bring a gurney to transport her after disabling with a blow to the head or something?

The tracks…could they be a gurney?
I posted this earlier. Not sure if something like this could hold her weight. The bucket on the back is 11.5 inches wide. Someone also suggested it could be from a safe with wheels.

Wouldn't communication with TMZ be easier to track than bitcoin movements? They now have three emails from this person and the FBI have no doubt gotten all their digital forensic tools lined up to trace them if possible.

Curious what is keeping a media outlet from ponying up $50,000 as either an investment towards potential profit generated from ad revenue received simply from reporting that they took a small (for them) financial risk, or for the altruistic reasons of potentially returning a victim, in whatever condition, to their contemporary's family for closure (and, of course, the ad revenue that subsequent reporting on it would bring to the company because of their goodwill)?

Would it be a crime? I honestly don't know.

JMO.

It’s probably not illegal for a media outlet to pay a ransom.
But what do you do the next kidnapping? How do you explain to their family why you’re not doing it for them?
Would it encourage potential kidnappers to go ahead with it because they figure the media outlet will pay it?
A bad precedent I think.

I see the connection you're trying to make, but I'm struggling to understand why anyone would need a bite light when making jewelry. Is this a known thing, or just rumor? It seems like making jewelry is a task best done whilst sitting at a desk with a strong light and magnifying lens, like one might use when soldering electronics.
I looked it up online and it said often used for jewelry making. My sister makes jewelry (for entertainment) and she never heard of it, either. AI: " highly specialized, traditional tools that can be effective for specific jewelry making tasks, particularly for very fine work and soldering small pieces. However, they are not typically recommended for modern beginners, as they require mastering techniques like "circular breathing" and have been largely superseded by safer, more efficient technologies."

According to CNN’s Ed Lavandera, Devon Sayers and Taylor Romine, DNA has been found as part of the investigation into the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie, but it’s not clear who it belongs to, Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos told CNN during an interview today.

We really don't know if the FBI still believes (or ever did) that it is authentic.

Remember the circumstances as well as the vaguely reported details of the note were rather dubious, and many experts questioned if it was actually related to the initial events.

Also thought the suspect at the front door might be a tradesmen like an electrician and plumber who works in dark spaces. He seemed quite adept with using it in his mouth.

Agree that he likely already had a mouth flashlight. MOO
I can't see how it's difficult too use, most people put something in their mouth everyday and as we can see it wasn't for a long time.

Wondered if a dolly like the kids in the other crypto case bought to pose as delivery people.

What was your prompt to get that response?

Might be that the suspect wasn't seriously concerned about being seen but they may have removed the camera because they were going to bring NG out through the front door and possibly directly into a car in the gravel driveway by the front door. Might have been protecting LE seeing the car or the suspects bringing NG out of the house. MO

"TUCSON, Ariz. (KVOA) - The Pima County Sheriff's Department Mobile Command Unit left from headquarters on Friday afternoon. The Pima County Sheriff has not confirmed whether this is related to the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie, but sources close to the investigation tells News 4 Tucson it is related."

Don’t people usually (always?) get detained, questioned, or arrested, before being cleared? I might be completely wrong but I can’t think off the top of my head of any time I’ve heard of someone being “cleared” pre-emptively without them having first been taken in for questioning/made a POI or something along those lines, where the wording is usually something like “detained for questioning but later cleared of wrongdoing”, “questioned as a person of interest but later cleared”, words to that effect.

JMO
If they have their eye on the person, there’s no need to bring him/her in until they get solid evidence. At that time all they will ask for is a signed confession.

One would think, but I don't know the ins and outs of proxy IPs like many do, so I'm not sure if there's a way to do it entirely anonymously. And my understanding is they are sending emails via website contact forms, so that may also be an extra layer of insulation.

Via the informed posts I've read earlier in this thread by some tech saavy folks, and those that understand the digital currency machinations far better than I ever will, bitcoin is not as secure as it seems (or used to be).
