Regarding the recent TMZ note:

In an earlier letter he stated that one his reasons for being anonymous and requesting bitcoin was because he was scared of retaliation.

Seems like a memorable interaction that happened between the so called kidnapper and wanna-be informant. And running to TMZ to tell authorities- that you bumped into him 5 days ago and he told you to "shut up" would put you in harms way if it really happened.

I read somewhere that "If burglars come by day, they want your stuff. If they come at night, they want you."
I thought about the hot prowling that was discussed a great deal during the Idaho4 case, but I can't see how that would apply here.

I am not a genius and this seems like a logical strategy so I'm sure they are aleady doing this-but being that much of the suspect's clothing is being reported as being from Walmart, I would thing that would be a fairly easy find? If I worked at Walmart and someone bought a jacket, holster, skii mask, etc. I would remember that and connect it to Nancy. I wonder if Walmart has put out a mass email to their store managers? And if ordered online, can't Walmart search their orders? They could have purchased items separately, but still, this seems like a good way to find the him/her/them.
The Ozark Trail backpack is a Walmart exclusive. And yes, Walmart is providing records going back months.

Walmart has provided records of all Ozark Trail Hiker online and in-store purchases over the past several months, including sales beyond the Tucson area, to investigators, Nanos told CBS News.

The clothes are believed to be sold at Waltmart, but not exclusive.

The mask is believed to now be from Walmart, as well, according to Nanos.

This is live, so I’m not sure how to timestamp.

Brian Entin stating he feels hopeful, not a cold case. Also mentions he’s been told they’ve started the ancestral dna process.

This is pretty interesting if anyone else wants to watch.

Mods, sorry for the lack of timestamp! I’ll come back and edit once the live is over.
So… the ancestral DNA process. I hope they have the best and the brightest on that part. Eventually we are all going to be part of the database. Between AI and technology this is the future of crime solving-not just straight up CODIS, but IGG.

I just hope all of this information doesn't increase the flight risk.
I was gobsmacked (love that word) to learn that the investigators detained three people and towed a RR about 2 miles from NG's home. I thought the perp(s) would have gone to Mexico straight away. MOO

  • #31,986
I think y'all are going to be disappointed. They are NOT going to tell you if the DNA is a match on CODIS. They are not going to tell you it isn't. THIS IS ALL DESIGNED TO KEEP THE PERP GUESSING. and the public ENGAGED and ratings UP! JMO

I think the perp is mid 30's max..still living with his mother. Doesn't date. Has Formed delusional love connection with SG. May have a mother who is very enmeshed in his life. Someone who would never approve anyone he dated. Fantasy romance is the only way he can have a love connection! Think about it. People are now having romances with the bots on AI. He is fixated on SG. Takes the mom. Makes SG notice him. JMO

Personally, I don't think an obession with Savannah is the perp's motive because nothing was mentioned in the ransom letter that Nancy was targeted (other than the amount of money demanded) because of Savannah.

I think the burglary turned into a kidnapping theory makes sense due to panic when he realized that this lady was the mother of a well known Today Show host.

That’s interesting and they would know how relevant and what type of dna was submitted. This dna is not the glove, correct? We are still waiting on those CoDIS results, correct?

Right. This references the unknown DNA found on NG's property -- not the glove DNA.

That is very astute. Not even the brother has posted anything since then. I wonder if they are just too distraught, or if that suggests something else is happening.

SG's siblings don't have the popularity and/or media platform to make these kinds of pleas and be as impactful. She does speak for them, it appears, in her use of the word "we" when describing feelings or making pleas, etc.

Having said this, it could just be her making the pleas now because authorities may suspect that motive could be about her - crazed fan, etc - and she is making it a "personal" or "intimate" conversation/connection. Something like that might facilitate remorse if there is a deluded, obsessed fan involved, or if that isn't possible due to any underlying personality issues, to compel him to appease the pleas of his obsession ("do what she wants me to do").

Amazon's Sidewalk network covers a large part of Tucson with Alexa devices which owners have opted into it. LE should provide the Bluetooth ID to Amazon and see if its possible to geolocate NGs pacemaker based on its unique BD_ADDR.

There's always some level of risk to the decisions they make. It's a calculated risk.

Good to hear there is a “neighborhood action team” working with their neighbors to try and find useful footage to help.

“A neighborhood action team has also been busy cross-referencing their footage with other neighbors, searching for patterns or useful information to send to the FBI and the Pima County Sheriff's Department. Teamwork between neighbors and the Tucson community is essential in this case.”

JB and BE covering a case together brings me back to Gabby Petito. Hoping for a better outcome in this case!!

Exactly… I could see saying I don’t meet the requirement to receive reward, therefore I’m asking this way. But come on, 100k or 50k would be noticed in Mexico! You wouldn’t be able to hide it for long.

If they’ve started the ancestral dna process I take that to mean no CODIS matches?
Just my guess, but sending it to an outside lab doesn’t automatically mean CODIS came back with no match. A lot of times they have to use those labs first to get a clean/full DNA profile (especially if the sample is weak or mixed), and then they can upload it into CODIS. So genealogy might just be an extra lane they’re running at the same time.

Yes thanks, altitude is measured above sea level correct? According to google Catalina Foothills sit around 2,500 to 2,800 feet above sea level which means the helicopter was still 500+ feet above the ground. This is much higher than what they stated sniffer capabilities. IMO
Yes, exactly. Unless it's getting down very close to the surface, it's not the sniffer. IIRC, they were using a Bell or Airbus chopper, not an R44. Might be media or a private looky-loo.

Walmart has extensive surveillance in their stores, above their cash registers and in their parking lots. Much of Walmart is now self-checkout so I wouldn't anticipate somebody remembering this person.

But, LE could get a warrant for a Walmart to pull up all of their Walmart specific backpack purchases (the one used by the perp), get a date of the purchase, credit card information with their name if they used a credit card and then go through the video from that date of purchase and capture what they look like and get the make and license number of the car they drive.
