AZ Nancy Guthrie, 84, (mother of TODAY Show host Savannah Guthrie) missing - last seen in the Catalina foothills area on Jan 31, 2026

Can anyone confirm what happened to the Ring camera? I’m hearing different versions-was it removed already when law enforcement arrived, or was it removed by law enforcement?
I think LE said they are trying to establish when it was removed so mustn't have been removed by them.

They've made it really clear that she wasn't physically able to walk out of the house by herself.
I'm starting to wonder about that as the sheriff recently said that people were taking what he said too literally. JMO.

Is anyone else thinking that maybe the (somewhat erratic and excitable) sheriff has this all wrong and there was no abduction? I'm imagining Mrs. Guthrie waking in the middle of the night, falling on the way to the bathroom, stumbling out the door (to get help? because she didn't recognize her own house?), walking down the driveway and disappearing into the brush and dying, perhaps farther away than where she is believed to be able to walk. So many times bodies are found in areas already searched thoroughly, so I'm not convinced that if she was within 100 yards of the house the searchers would have actually found her.

Anyway, at this point, knowing foreign DNA hasn't been found and that cameras haven't identified an intruder, this makes more sense to me than kidnapping an 84 year old woman in the middle of the night. And the ransom notes seem clearly ridiculous.

She likely would not have gotten very far, by all accounts. And by now, they'd be seeing heavy predatory birds scavenging the site. (Makes me ill to type that.) MOO

Brian K./ID murders was known to follow this site.
Erin Patterson had an account on here at one point too. I remember a verified insider mentioning it.

WHO has made it "really clear"? Everything I've read said she lived independently yet her family sayid she wouldn't be able to walk 50 yards unassisted. That's very different from not being able to walk out of the house by herself.

I don’t believe Brian Entin would walk up to the house without permission. He’s always been respectful in all the years I’ve been watching him.
Agree - he's one of the good guys. Very considerate but wicked smaht

Yea you are correct that family said she wouldn't be able to walk 50 yards unassisted. I worded my response wrong. LE have made it clear that she wouldn't have been able to walk out of the house and wander off by herself.

Some type of mobility aid left behind at the house perhaps?

In any case, alive or not, she had to be dragged into the car to hide.

I feel like she answers the door, they disabled her there in the doorway and carried her out. Maybe they never even went into the house.

Just repeating the question about what do we know about Nancy herself, beyond being Savannah's daughter (which is obviously a big possible motive) but - if this is a kidnap - I keep thinking about that longstanding grudge.

Am still going through hits on newspapers.com but a couple of potential Nancy Guthries from the late eighties early nineties stand out: one who was a journalist for the Tuscon Citizen, and another who was a spokesperson for the UMC (University Medical Centre). There are a couple of articles about contentious cases she has made a statement about (see below as an example).

But potentially someone who was a child in the late nineties could now be an adult, who grew up harbouring a grudge against a particular institution, of whom she could have been the public face.

OF COURSE neither of these might be Nancy herself. All JMO and MOO and wondering why Nancy?

I've ruled out the possibility that she got injured and went to the neighbors for help or got lost, because she would have been found somewhere nearby.

TMZ reports that ransom note includes what she was wearing when abducted. Also reported in Daily Mail.

There are losers on the internet who will attempt to extort money from missing persons families by claiming that they have their missing loved one captive. I used to moderate a large missing persons group on Facebook and I saw it first hand. Id be shocked if it was real.
If the email named an item that was boken in the home during the abduction, that gives it a lot of weight.

I am caregiver to my Mom. I would think the Sister would make sure Mom safe in house and ready for bed since Mom had mobility issues and it was late at night. Apple Watch removed which is probably a norm for getting ready for bed. I think it is weird someone would break into house, cause the victim to bleed, drag victim out of house and away form property, then disconnect Ring security yet there's no report of robbery. I do think dinner til 8:30pm or later is quite late unless it was a special occassion, especially since church the next morning but that was at 11am, so maybe I am overthinking. I think this was someone close to victim who caused her disappearance. I think any alledged randsom is not associated with this crime. Police know so much more than what is reported imo because they are telling community and neighbors not to worry about their safety. I don't see this as kidnapping/abduction. Homicide would not be called in unless suspicion of homicide. I think something happened tragically in the house and person with victim tried to cover up. I think the disconnect of Ring was someone victim knew who knew the victim lived alone and thus, would know no one would be at the house or would know victim was missing until the next day after 11am. Sending prayers to the family

No visible damage that I can see.

I have no idea what to think now and there's so much misinformation out there

But if the door was damaged this could just be a replacement door. They wouldn't leave a damaged door that would enable access now that police have finished processing the scene
