In any case, alive or not, she had to be dragged into the car to hide.
Yes. And possibly this was intended to be a ransom abduction, but she passed away at the trauma at home and they had to remove her regardless. I doubt that she has survived this, but any nearby cams could maybe show car lights at specific times. JMO

These two facts together are deeply distressing.

The blood drops are larger than I thought. There appear to be smudges as well as droplets.

The Ring apparently being grabbed out so that the attack would not be so easily discovered, or allow the identification of the culprit(s) so swiftly.

It feels too real now and in an agonizing way.

The family appears to be very close-knit, so IMO as of now, I don’t think it’s a family member.

That does not preclude it being an outlier or hanger-on.

“Nancy has high blood pressure, pacemaker, and cardiac issues.

The fact that she has a pacemaker is actually helpful.

The company should be able to remotely monitor her heart rhythm/data since her phone was left at the home (assuming she has the smartphone app) and share that info with LE.

JMO.

Court TV reporting that at least one ransom note has been received, demanding millions in Bitcoin.

Is anyone else thinking that maybe the (somewhat erratic and excitable) sheriff has this all wrong and there was no abduction? I'm imagining Mrs. Guthrie waking in the middle of the night, falling on the way to the bathroom, stumbling out the door (to get help? because she didn't recognize her own house?), walking down the driveway and disappearing into the brush and dying, perhaps farther away than where she is believed to be able to walk. So many times bodies are found in areas already searched thoroughly, so I'm not convinced that if she was within 100 yards of the house the searchers would have actually found her.

Anyway, at this point, knowing foreign DNA hasn't been found and that cameras haven't identified an intruder, this makes more sense to me than kidnapping an 84 year old woman in the middle of the night. And the ransom notes seem clearly ridiculous.
I know everyone is different, except that all of us who are older have a safe path to the bathroom. Out of bed, 5 steps ahead to wall, follow wall etc. My cane is also standing by my bed when I need it. When I fell last year, it was difficult for me to get up, but when I did, the first thing I did was get to my couch to sit, and I wouldn't have gone outside. As a 77yr old, I don't see that she would have gone outside and never would have gone out in the dark. JMO

My question is why does someone take an 84 year old woman?
If they kidnapped her thinking they could get some ransom money because of her celebrity daughter, there should have been a ransom note or call by now I think.
If she were 24 years old, she would have been taken, abused and buried in a shallow grave by now, but why do you take an 84 year old?
If it was a personal grudge or something, I think her body would have been found at the house.
Weird.
Signs to me are that this is someone close to victim

I agree. She never left house on her own. I also don't think she was removed from house alive

I think LE said they are trying to establish when it was removed so mustn't have been removed by them.
I have a battery ring doorbell, and that mount doesn't look like a ring. My ring system detects when the doorbell is removed, and that info is stored in the devices activity. I don't have inside cameras, but have motion detectors, so when it is on home & alarmed it alerts when someone is walking in the devices view and also stores that in activity. JMO

Do you think the family has been contacted by the suspect(s)? We have no idea, but have been thinking about it. I hope she hasn’t been tortured, my mind doesn’t want to go there either.

That’s what I was wondering since the TMZ article said the door was kicked in.
Could the door have been kicked in by the family member who was contacted by Church when victim was a no show at church?

Yes that's a lot of blood IMO. One bit looks like spray, like from a cough or a sneeze?

What makes you think she wasn’t alive when removed from the house? Drag marks? Do you think it was more than one person who abducted her?

I guess family members have keys to mother's house, no? 🤔

I don’t think so, I’m guessing they had a key or the passcode. I think it was the suspect who kicked the door in to gain entry.

Do people bleed like that, in large droplets, after they are gone? Forgive me for how gruesome that sounds, but my first impression was a severe nosebleed or broken nose on a living person. Jmo.

My mom was in her eighties and I lived with her. I can’t tell you how many times she opened the front door to peek outside if she heard a noise. Drove me crazy!

Looks like heavier blood spill in the concentrated spot with a lot of splatter. The other drops could have been from the same havy flow but in motion so it looks less concentrated.

MOO but surely the drips of blood indicate that she was certainly alive?

It was her blood, a small quantity of it. If she was walking, or being carried out, with blood dripping I think that means she was alive. The LE seem sure of it, which makes me feel sure of it too. I think this is the kind of thing they can tell from the scene. They will have blood splatter analysis people already looking at that blood (won't they?) who will be able to say what kind of thing it indicates.
