I may be reading too much in to this, but I find it curious that Craig Melvin (SG's co-host) will not be going to Milan to cover the Olympics. The most realistic assumption is that he is staying stateside in solidarity with SG... but that seems odd to me. There has been no mention as to why he's staying, just they they had to shuffle things around. Does he feel unsafe or concerned for people in his circle?
I think they are planning for every possible scenario. They are not privy to the FBI behind the scenes, so they are not 100% sure if this is targeted to their on air talent or something else. If anything happens during the Olympics, they don’t want SG’s cohost to be doing happy updates of the games while tragedy has struck. They might need him here to move other personalities to the Olympics and get the focus off of the team most affected. I’d like to be a fly on the wall of those meetings, and there has to be a ton of them.

You need a location to search, and there very well may be searches going on that we know nothing about.

John Miller was talking last night about how they’re doing everything at once, and not focusing on a single avenue.

So you’d have investigators looking at the ransom, people close to the victims, convicted offenders in the area, analyzing phone data/surveillance etc.

Ah ok, so the fact that they aren't searching the actual land means they are probably still searching surveillance and analyzing data, and once they have answers from that 'search' they might start searching land.

In Haro's case, they had their prime suspects so they probably analyzed some data and used that to find a location to search. Although they have not in fact, sadly, ever located the poor baby himself.

Well, I'd be a bit nervous choosing the questions to ask an 84 yr old, for proof of life.

Believe me, even if she is still 'sharp as a tack', her memory aint what it used to be.

So remembering what her doggie from 75 years ago was named, might backfire if she can't remember anymore. Or even what she ate at her daughter's last week. It's been a very stressful week.

I'd go with things that she'd have a better chance of remembering---"when was Daddy's birthday? When is your anniversary, etc? I think she could have a greater chance of remembering something significant like that. And I doubt her kidnappers would know those dates.

ITA - I am getting a hinky feeling about this whole thing and IDK how to explain why. Her husband passed away not long ago, so if it was someone known to her, they would have been aware, making her an easy target. It wouldn't have taken much to abduct her. She was also said to have mobility issues and a pacemaker.

I despise abuse of children, animals and the elderly...the totally innocents of this crazy world.

Anyone consider that Savannah didn't say anything about how to get in touch with them directly? If there's a follow up from the kidnappers I am assuming it will go to the same sources.
They may have communicated back to the email address the note came from, or as a test- ask mom how to get in touch as proof of life.

Sorry, this is an awful post to write but I'm trying to get my head around it:

I'm thinking about that baby Emmanuel Haro: a sloppy crime, obvious to LE who had done it and what had happened. From memory the kidnapping was reported, parents did an appeal video and then got arrested. And the entire time LE were searching for the body. They knew there was a body, and they wanted to find it.

IF LE think a stranger took Nancy, and it has nothing to do with the note, then why aren't they searching?
search where? If a stranger took her and she is gone from the property to unknown location she could be three doors down or across the country. Without any sort of profile on the stranger involved where should they begin searching?

Great point about him being part of the affected team and the optics of that. That hadn’t occurred to me.

This! Quantico BAU was involved no doubt.

Yes, and if the BAU was there helping the family prep for their video appeal, it gave the BAU an opportunity to make observations and glean information from the family members present in the home.

Which could prove helpful to the investigation in a variety of ways.

I still find it hard to believe that this is a kidnapping for ransom, because the most important thing is to keep the woman alive to get the ransom. And from the blood it's clear that they or he injured her already...
it could have been a tiny cut and not a bad injury, assuming she was on blood thinners.... even a tiny cut would bleed like a faucet!

If this is the work of an SG stalker there is a good chance that the stalker has also sent something to him. From experience, when I didn’t respond to my stalker he started quickly trying to get to me through my coworkers. He could be staying stateside to be immediately available to LE in case he is contacted again. Also, my stalker ended up going after family members too (showing up at their work and house) which is why I think there is a good chance this is a SG stalker.

NG's husband died when Savannah was 16 years old, in 1988. That is quite a long time ago.

Is there a consensus since the family appealed on video directly to the kidnappers, that the ransom note was legitimate?
I believe that investigators are treating it as though it could be legitimate. As I would expect them too until they can find definitive proof that its not. I think there was likely enough specific information in it cause them to take it seriously. I personally think It will either likely turn out to be sent by the actual perpetrator to throw them off the actual motive. Or it was some nutjob that learned just enough details that were not circulated via MSM that it gives credence to it and will ultimately end up being a separate crime. MOO

Her husband passed away when SG was 16, so it was a very long time ago. She raised her kids in that house.

Many people (thousands) posted their dislike for SG after she interviewed Donald Trump. They felt she was rude and aggressive and very biased during the interview. There were actually posts all over Facebook with pure hatred for SG.

These are not my views. I am just repeating what I read a few years back.
That is exactly correct and that is still going around now if you want to browse social media (I don't personally).

I thought I read that Mrs. Guthrie missed Sunday school. It's a more intimate group, imo, where a regular would be missed more immediately. Maybe she had a role like providing a verse or prayer or something they knew she wouldn’t miss doing without letting them know so someone else could fill in.

I also read that she still drove.

My opinion since I don’t have those sources right off.

I looked briefly at a photo of that. I made the assumption that someone got cut while destroying the Nest cam. Am I completely off in the location of the door cam? JMO
I’ve been thinking the same thing. But they also said blood was inside the house.

I watch Today and am assuming the producers want Craig Melvin to stay in NYC just to keep some continuity with everything happening -- the terrible ordeal Savannah is going through so publicly, and the Olympics in Italy.
