Need this also be said, but have a "break in plan".I hope this is ok....I know Fox News is not an approved source...but what I found interesting was this and thought it was important enough for ALL of us to keep ourselves and our loved ones safe.
Ways to keep your loved ones safe
1) Use connected cameras
2) Wear an emergency pendant or medical alert device
3) Enable device sharing and safety feature
4) Create simple check-in routines
5) Use devices with passive safety monitoring
6) Know emergency contacts and escalation steps
The articles goes into more depth on each point and I believe it originated by Cyberguy.com

How tech is being used in Nancy Guthrie disappearance investigation
Investigators are hoping digital clues may break open the investigation into Savannah Guthrie's missing mother Nancy Guthrie, who disappeared from her Arizona home.www.foxnews.com
In my 20's was staying with a boyfriend and we heard someone coming in through a window in the middle of the night (fortunately it was just his inebriated roommate who lost his key.....) BUT we realized we had no weapons, and no plan in that sort of situation. Both of us sort of froze up.
I think about it now based on where I live, where family lives (the layout of homes, neighborhood, etc.) What would your plan be? Perhaps hitting an emergency app (Noonlight is amazing), having pepper spray or some other weapon near your bed/nearby, having a planned escape route or hiding place, etc.?
Many of us go into fight or flight in scary situations - a plan can be helpful for both in your home and outside of it (in your car, in a public place, etc.) and practicing what you could do while you're mentally sound and not in a moment of panic.
