I think he didn’t want to answer the question and I think it’s very interesting that 14 odd days in he still won’t say the family has been cleared.

I do honestly hope they aren’t involved though for the rest of the family’s sake

You have to consider that at this point—with no suspects in custody, he can’t rule out anyone with 100% certainty. He CAN’T clear the family because LE do not know who did this with any certainty—IMO.

What if the person is someone AG knew in a yoga class (if she took one) or parent of someone who knows her son—people could come back and say “See—it was someone tied to the family and LE screwed up!” Which might taint the prosecution.
IMO—maybe the sheriff wishes he could make that statement to clear the main family members and stop rampant speculation about the SIL more than anyone—but he has to consider what damage COULD COME from doing that too soon…

WEll either you believe that she got home or that blood was planted on the front porch. I think she got home.

This just made me have a thought. not about whether or not she got home, but whether or not the blood was “planted.” (because IMO it could have been planted later, regardless of whether or not she made it home…)

If it had been coughed out, as I have seen speculated, wouldn’t the blood be mixed with saliva? They haven’t told us that, and there is no need for them to. I would also expect to see more linear/angled specks in the fine mist than there were. (I watched Gray Hughes analysis of some of the Idaho murder photos and wished I hadn’t, but maybe I learned something)

Also, if you have something like a syringe- or any container with liquid in it that you can squeeze, even like a dish soap bottle- and there is any air trapped behind/with the liquid, as you force out that last little bit, the air is going to come shooting out too, causing that very fine mist speckled pattern. (I haven’t had coffee yet, so I hope I am making sense.) That’s kind of what the photo looked like IMO.

To me, the worse quote was "Maybe it's an hour from now," he said. "Maybe it’s weeks or months or years from now. But we won’t quit. We’re going to find Nancy. We’re going to find this guy."

That may very well be true, but that's pretty defeating to say when the family is listening and not the kind of thing a top official should say in public. It's still only three weeks in. At least act determined to find Nancy - NOW. Time is of the essence. The family needs any semblance of peace. Openly saying it could take years at this point of the investigation is not helpful imo and doesn't inspire confidence. I would be so upset if I was a family member, no matter what I believed deep down. You want to have confidence in LE. I think he should have kept that to himself and stuck to, "we have the top experts, we're chasing down every lead, someone out there knows something and we're going to find it," etc. etc.

To be fair, the reported is asking him when hes going to find her. If he knew that, he would have already found her, right? He doesnt want to give false hope or spook a perpetrator by saying, "Yep, we will have this thing wrapped up Monday." I think the guy has a really difficult task at hand here because honestly, it's unlike any other case. Its very unusual. Im trying my best to give him and LE a chance. Many cases go completely insolved forever as you can see on this site.

Same. I keep hoping for an arrest of an actual suspect, and indications that they know the location of NG.

Without those two things, the case is just in a big quagmire.

It reminds me of when I got really invested in the Summer Wells and Delphi cases, both of which I expected to be solved quickly. The first never was, and the second took over five years.

The router requires power to work, and so does an internet modem. The doorbell model appears to be the wireless model (no visible wires sticking out of the house). So, for the video of the suspect to have been uploaded to Nest, it must have been connected to Wi-Fi and the internet during the recording or some time shortly afterward.

I could very well be missing something here, but to me, this implies neither the internet nor the power was cut, or cut indefinitely, unless Nancy had some sort of power backup.

Thanks @warp3dwing! I’m not tech savvy but I wanted to share how important Wi-Fi is for cellphones when you live in a hilly western area. You’re right about Bluetooth working just fine.

I have a sincere question to ask @OldCop and @MassGuy, everyone else please feel free to respond too - If LE/FBI knows for a fact that a potential person (SIL) has been cleared by them, why not publicly announce it? Besides them having a reason why he hasn’t been cleared, would there be another reason why they wouldn’t share it? If so, what would the reason(s) be? TIA

I can’t find, or even think of, a past example of a case where somebody has been said by LE to be “cleared” (with that term specifically,) pro-actively or pre-emptively, without that person having first been either detained, arrested, formally questioned, or named as a POI/suspect.

January 11 seems to be an important date to the sheriff and investigators. Has anyone read anything regarding activities in the area on Jan 11. Could Nancy have been at an event and followed home after someone heard she had a famous daughter. I am not good at searching for articles, etc. They are stuck on the Jan 11 date for some reaason

@NonnaBalogna I completely agree with everything you have written. This is a mess, from my outside point of view. It is like, let's pick up any random guy people report is "suspicious". Wow.

Yes, credible leads need to be followed up on, but there should be a source of evidence before storming a person's home. I hope police have been throughly vetting everything, before acting. I am sure that the excess media attention is fueling some desperation here for LEO.

Hoping that the law enforcement is doing due diligence.

To execute a federal search or arrest warrant agents must present a sworn affidavit to a federal magistrate judge demonstrating probable cause. They must show specific articulable facts (not hunches, not speculation) that evidence of a crime will be found at a particular location OR that a specific person has committed a federal offense. I assure you they were not randomly storming peoples homes and picking up "suspicious" people. The process involves multiple levels of review. JMHO

I re thought a few things and decided to come back to say that IMO, I’m noticing a pattern emerging.



Couple of things I’ve noticed.

Regarding both of the raids they involved families. Specifically at least a mother and son. With the son apparently living with the mother. No father is mentioned by MSM in any of these raids.

Both vehicles that were searched or seized in relation to these raids appear to be silver.

Carlos, the one in the first raid has a silver Nissan Rouge. His vehicle was searched but not seized to my knowledge. The second vehicle, the Range Rover. Was seized and also silver. However they both also share another common characteristic of having black rims.


I think they are looking for at least one type of vehicle that is a silver SUV/Crossover type with dark rims. I believe they are also looking for at least a man and a woman (or mother and son) that live together, a family.

Another thing I see mentioned is the clothing of the perp on video. Obviously layered, but beyond the obvious reasons of these layers, I can’t help but wonder if the layers were to also protect the skin of the perp from brush and cacti as the perp
approached her home.

This is assuming she’s standing with her nose to the door as it opens.

Most scenarios are: Open the door while still in the vehicle and still chatting, saying your farewells. NG being physically limited may need assistance getting out of the vehicle and to the door.

I would also expect MY HUSBAND to walk my mother all the way into the house. Help her get lights on, etc. Not just dump her off at the door to her own devices.

I've been following on here since day 1 but this is my first post in the thread. From the beginning, I felt like this is someone tangentially connected to NG, either a friend or acquaintance of a family member or a regular service person who comes to the house (or a friend/acquaintance of them).

One other possibility I just got to thinking about - I wonder if NG uses things like Door Dash/Uber Eats or a grocery delivery service. If her mobility is limited, it would make sense that she does (please note I am NOT stating she definitely does use them, just positing that she MIGHT). I'm sure this is something LE could find out and for all we know, maybe they are exploring this path.

The reason I wonder about this is that knowing her mobility isn't great, I wonder if she requests that the delivery person bring her food/groceries inside her home. Now I do think the "official" policy of these companies is that the delivery people do not go inside. HOWEVER, I personally in my real life know 3 different Door Dash drivers who say they DO sometimes bring food inside depending on the circumstances. If the orderer requests this due to old age/limited mobility, disability, or illness and they feel comfortable with the situation, they will do this out of kindness. Now they all 3 said there are circumstances where they don't feel comfortable doing so and will decline. So even if it isn't official policy, there is real life evidence some drivers still will bring food inside.

It wouldn't even have to be a regular or repeated driver. All it would take is one food or grocery delivery person to come to her house, go inside upon her request and see Hmmm. This is a fairly secluded house/not easy viewable from the street. This woman is very nice, seems well-off, lives here alone, does not get around well, etc. And either they or someone they know then decide to come back to rob her and something goes off the rails.

Again, all supposition on my part. My opinion only. Just thinking through some other scenarios here.

Surely one day isn’t a long time for a first ransom request to arrive though?! I don’t think a ransom kidnapper would want to send a ransom demand before they see that the crime has been reported in the news, otherwise they lose the effect of their demand becoming a story in its own right, and the initial shock effect of “What happened to the victim?” setting in with the family, to provoke fear and worry, leave them to “stew in their own juices” for a wil, scared and wondering what could have happened, without knowing anything concrete.

I AM stuck on there having been two people involved in the invasion of her home and removing her. And that their objective was shared. A revenge motive sounds nuts, to me, but maybe they are both nuts. Seems like someone else would know why they were seeking revenge and tip off LE. (Maybe they have?) JMO
