You have to consider that at this point—with no suspects in custody, he can’t rule out anyone with 100% certainty. He CAN’T clear the family because LE do not know who did this with any certainty—IMO.I think he didn’t want to answer the question and I think it’s very interesting that 14 odd days in he still won’t say the family has been cleared.
I do honestly hope they aren’t involved though for the rest of the family’s sake
What if the person is someone AG knew in a yoga class (if she took one) or parent of someone who knows her son—people could come back and say “See—it was someone tied to the family and LE screwed up!” Which might taint the prosecution.
IMO—maybe the sheriff wishes he could make that statement to clear the main family members and stop rampant speculation about the SIL more than anyone—but he has to consider what damage COULD COME from doing that too soon…
