There is something I don't understand. The way TMZ inserted themself, I don't understand why they don't pay the ransom themself. It's a small payment compared to what they gain. With the information they can go to the authorities en cash in the reward + they will have the biggest scoop they can dream of. So why don't they? I think they don't trust the writer of the notes or they knew all along it was fake messages. They said the location of the applewatch was 'accurate', how do they know? Noone else said it was accurate.
I imagine it they pay this there is a huge danger of copy cat cases .

A glove found approximately two miles from Nancy Guthrie's Tucson home 'appears to match' the pair the suspect was seen wearing in doorbell surveillance footage, the FBI has said.

Last week, several gloves were found near Nancy's home before being sealed in evidence bags by the Pima County Sheriff's Office, and shipped overnight for testing at a private lab in Florida.

Nearly 16 gloves were collected near her home, and most of them were used and discarded by searchers at the site, the FBI told the Daily Mail.

Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos described the DNA find as "significant," noting that officials have already used the sample to eliminate several individuals from the investigation.

The discovery marks a major breakthrough in the case that has gripped the nation. Nancy Guthrie was last seen Friday, Jan. 31, and her disappearance is being treated as an "obvious kidnapping" after blood matching her DNA was found on her exterior porch.

Authorities have declined to disclose exactly where on the property the mysterious DNA was found. The DNA profile did not yield a match in CODIS, the national database for convicted offenders. Investigators may now turn to forensic genetic genealogy to identify potential relatives of the source

Maybe? the time stamp information seems to be either not available or just not released to the public yet on the camera. That information would tell us how spaced apart the entrance to the home verses the abduction took place. Hell could be a totally different day at this point. Also I would think a burglar would go to the side or back of the home or somewhere that's not so clear to public view. I keep thinking they have a lot more video that they haven't released yet. I still cant keep thinking about why they would take her out the front door and not the side of the home. Some are saying the blood drops appear that she was being carried over the shoulder so would seem to me that on the side of the home they could have had more time to get her placed in a get away vehicle. Any talk of tire marks? And lastly in the video when they go to grab the plant out of the ground they hesitate and look up and way for a second. Could they be looking at a second perp or a car or what got their attention? is there audio on the video? There's my brain dump!
Nest cameras without a subscription only upload footage with an event. LE has said motion was detected on a camera at 2:12am, which would trigger the camera to record and store that footage. The footage we’ve seen is from 2:12am, MOO

But drugs alone are not connected to this case—nothing so far from any LE source that says drugs are part of the crime—
Why would the sheriff call the driver/owner (?) a person of interest in NG case (already posted that link in another comment) because the car was acquired illicitly???
Drugs with the perp could be.

I’m just wondering if the search warrant wasn’t for the vehicle and technology to get more pieces of puzzle or if they knew because vehicle was recently acquired illicitly.

All because no arrest doesn’t make sense to me.

Did I read the sheriff said it could take years to find NG? Obviously, then, he believes she is deceased.

What do the people of Tucson think of the sheriff?

There was some interest in why LE wanted to swab RR, before it was loaded up on flatbed, taken to LE area for further detailing. One of the reporters mentioned swabbing behind tarp. ( just memory).

They must have thought something was important enough to get the DNA to lab quicker, instead of waiting for the secure area to examine. Maybe just a quick look first, save one day getting results back.

Question on decomposing body: is there a test that captures gases or smells from a recent decomposing body? For example if a body was in RR recently (or any car) and someone reported a foul odor. Can they do an air sample test? Just curious. Any experts in this?

Re Ransom

TMZ, and no one else, has paid ransom so far. Maybe LE really discourages this when LE believes it’s a hoax.

There was something about $300 deposited, was that info accurate?

Those closest to NG will hopefully have been extensively questioned about her routines and schedule. Neighbours also, people at her Church and those who zoomed in to SG's church.
Without having that picture, we wise Web Sleuths are missing so much. There was a lot of chat initially about what an 84 year old can do and what they may struggle with. It was often very generic and quite demeaning in some instances. In terms of NG, none of us know exactly how her medical and mobility issues affected her. With my own nearly 80 year old mother who lives alone - I know exactly her limitations and strengths. I do know that this generation is often quite "tough" and enjoy their independence. My Mum, like NG, has lived in her house for a very long time. It's now too big for her, but she won't move and I won't push her on this.

Motives seem to boil down IMO to:

1. To hurt SG or another member of the family (a grudge, a debt?)
2. Money - either from NG directly or in the form of a ransom
3. Robbery - gone wrong - so the aim was to break in and steal.
4. Mental illness and a fascination with either SG or NG therefore a distorted motive.
5. Their moment of fame - knowing that this would be big news given the SG connection.
6. A wider gang related crime, whose motive was to send a message to someone or something?

Quick question regarding the glove(s). Could a finger print be left inside a glove? Depending on the type of glove?
Yes, but usually only partial prints due to the pulling/tugging to get them off. You would have a better chance of extracting dna than obtaining usable prints, but it has been done. Unfortunately in this case it looks like the gloves were double layered. Unless the outer, found glove was tried on for fit, forensics may not be able to extract dna or prints from the outer glove.

One thing I’ve learned from my years of following true crime is it’s a huge mistake to believe LE immediately shares with the public everything found at the crime scene. They only tell us what they think we should know, reason is mainly to get leads from the public.

Maybe part of the reason might be psychological, to cause the criminal to puzzle over if the note or message was found? But I’d say almost always there’s holdback evidence, for one reason I suppose is to separate true confessions from false confessions.

In this case with its profile, I don’t think it could have stayed hidden evidence like this. It would
Have leaked.

TMZ paying the ransom would be interfering with an LE investigation.

If it were some bizarre attempt at revenge against SG I think the person would have left a note or message to that effect, that would be the whole point of revenge is to take credit and hurt the person.

I'm sticking with my new theory, it's a random home invasion gone wrong, he took the time to extract the body and dump it somwhere remote. the guy in the doorbell video just looks like a random bad guy to me.
NO, imo YOU WOULDNT LEAVE A RANSOM NOTE at the scene. Paper might have random fingerprints from when you wrote it from home. Paper can be tracked. Handwriting could be compared in court. It removes the suspense factor. Perp is OBSESSED with SG.."you spurned me" "You left NBC to have surgery and never told me. . Twist for a few hours". " Now, you must give me the attention I deserve!" Hauling around a piece of paper whether handwritten or printed from a computer, can leave traces. Internet, so far, has eluded the cops. He sent ransom notes. He let everyone live with the shock factor of NG's kidnaping. Then he taunts them with ransom notes. and of course, he couldnt write the note while in NG's house. He might need to take his gloves off. I JMO

To REALLY do a forensic search on a vehicle suspected of transporting a “bleeding” crime victim—remember Nancy’s blood traces on front walk, they would need to basically disassemble that car looking for evidence. They can’t do that in a Culver’s parking lot.
IMO—I think they treated w/Luminol and got hits that gave credibility to that car being used to transport Nancy.

A relatively new car (which I think this one is) wouldn’t have all the opportunity to acquire blood traces like a car that had been used over time and could have all kinds of trace evidence in it. Think soccer mom’s car in family with two dogs, a baby, and various kids going to various places. Or a Range Rover used by a veterinarian to make ranch calls. Or a vehicle used by deer hunter or fisherman—those types of vehicles could legitimately have traces of blood inside that were not from a crime victim.
So they are going on odds of possibility/Occam’s Razor thinking maybe in why they took the Range Rover in and let the Rio Rico car go home.

I think that LE would discourage it just as much, if not more so, if they didn’t believe it was a hoax.

Fox reporting DNA on glove found matches the profile of suspect
"matches the GLOVE of the suspect" NOT THE PROFILE.

quote from the above article:
"The one with the DNA profile recovered is different and appears to match the gloves of the subject in the surveillance video," the spokesperson said.

ANYONE else find it strange that there are no organized searches? One lady who volunteers anywhere they are searching for missing people including bodies can't believe there is nothing organized. I don't get it. Also I think LE does owe at least a press conf. every few days with update on things. I have never seen a crime like this with no press conferences.
I believe there have been. In the article about the glove tested for DNA, LE said most of the gloves they found appear to be from searchers casting them off and dropping them.
