LE has been understandably very guarded in what information they release to the public. And yet, the information they do release is puzzling. Wouldn't it have been better to either say we found a glove and there was no DNA present or say nothing about whether DNA was found on the glove? I am worried that announcing there is DNA on the glove could allow the suspect the time to avoid capture and go into hiding. If I was the suspect and I knew that was the glove that I wore during the crime and my DNA was in CODIS, I would know it is only a matter of time before I am identified. Therefore I am doing everything I can to disappear and perhaps flee the country. And it appears I will have at least one week to accomplish this.

Similarly, releasing the information about using scanner technology to possibly detect the pacemaker seems to give the suspects information that they can use to prevent LE from finding NG.

Why is LE repeatedly releasing information that appears to be helping the suspects? Of course, the information that LE has released could all be false and with the intent of "flushing out" the suspects (someone is suddenly missing from work, etc). I hope LE is being smart and that is the case.

Because she very likely could identify him.
Who is him? The guy at the front door was was masked. If someone else entered the home through another entry point then perhaps. But then the motive is to remove her, either to kill her or to hold her for ransom.

In a new statement shared with USA TODAY on Feb. 15, the FBI elaborated that "approximately 16 gloves" have been collected near the Guthrie house, most of which "were searchers' gloves that they discarded in various areas when they searched the vicinity."

But investigators have also recovered gloves that appear to "match the gloves of the subject in the surveillance video" released last week showing a man at Nancy Guthrie's front door, according to the FBI. The gloves, found "in a field near the side of the road," were sent to a private lab, and the FBI received preliminary results but is "awaiting quality control and official confirmation today before putting unknown male profile into" its database.
What the heck? The searchers are just throwing trash out in their own community like that?

I agree with you; I don't think his DNA is in CODIS. I am more interested in if his DNA matches and DNA that may have been found in NG's house. As far as I know, and correct me if I am wrong, we haven't heard about any DNA found in the house. As @Napoli said in another post, notice what authorities are NOT saying.
^bolded by me

Well, this says “at Guthrie’s home” rather than IN her home, but, could mean INside imo, if that’s the distinction you are wondering about

“Forensic teams uncovered DNA at Guthrie’s home that does not match her or anyone in her immediate circle, authorities said. Investigators have not revealed where on the property the genetic material was found but say it is currently undergoing laboratory analysis.”

And the glove... This would be a stretch in court. A glove with DNA found 2 miles away? Unless, of course, the DNA is someone known.

Just noting that I find it interesting the last couple of videos have been SG alone, when we'd seen the siblings all together for a couple of videos.

They've been SG only after that search at AG's last weekend

That is interesting. Good point.

scratching my head & don’t like the possibilities we have not discussed (for good reason)

Our elderly population in the US is growing rapidly
Whether you reference official US Census Data or a private source such as PRB—-there’s a roughly 18% increase in the US population >65 years of age since 2015 (for example)

Which is why this case resonates. If we are not in the age group we certainly know someone or have a loved one close to or in that age group

And they are planners—-my mom had numerous expensive antiques, jewelry appraised as she aged. My grandmother had very rare gemstones, simply because of her age (they hand cut those “in the day” as she would remind me)

The possibilities are endless of course. But add to the list—did NG have jewelry she wore regularly, or collectible coins or antiques she was very proud of? Or had appraised recently?

there’s other reasons he might spend time in the home but for now just this thought

There absolutely is reason to take her away if deceased, if there is physical evidence of the perpetrator on her body, for example.

MOO
Exactly! It's a good possibility she bit him or scratched him while all of this happened. She may be 84 and be no match for a younger male but she can still do some sort of damage in an attempt to save herself.

I'm sure aside from being very scared she might have told them that her daughter is famous and they can pay them any amount of money, moo
That thought makes me so sad. If that was the case, imagine her fear. That little old lady
😣😣😣😔😞😔

I’m not judging. I try my best not to in heavy situations. We never REALLY know how we’d react in such situations. I’m sure there’s info we the public don’t about.

But i sure do wish they would have just paid the ransom when it was 1 million — for so many reasons. One being for Nancy’s sake, of course. But another is for the family’s future peace of mind. So they can rest at night with the thought of well we did all we could. You know? It would haunt me forever. Again you never know b/c we don’t know what all they know, but I’m pretty sure if an immediate family member of mine was taken, I’d tell the FBI to kick rocks no matter what their reasons were to not pay. I’d pay the ransom. I’d come up with a million dollars from friends and family and the community before the “due date”

I’m not clear what point you are trying to make.

Nest doorbells can indeed store up to an hour of video locally but if they are disconnected from the service then it never gets uploaded. The doorbell was removed by the perp and has yet to be found.

The video footage of the perp from the doorbell was uploaded to Google’s servers before it was disconnected, which is where it was recovered from in the end. It was not recovered from the device itself.

Also, there’s no evidence the WiFi was disabled.

Yes, Google backend systems can recover disconnected or deleted Nest camera footage, a capability highlighted by high-profile law enforcement investigations, such as in February 2026, where the FBI retrieved video from a disconnected camera that had no active subscription. I.e. The Nancy Guthrie Case

Note: I see the vehicle is a Land Rover. I have referred to it as a Range Rover in a previous post.
Where is this image coming from? It is a range rover that was found/taken at Culvers restaurant. This is a land rover.

Range Rovers carry Land Rover badges. Technically, the brand is Land Rover. Here's the rear view of a Range Rover Sport from 2017, with a regular Range Rover alongside it. Both carry Land Rover badges.

Him, is mask guy, who in all his brilliance managed to get caught on the doorbell camera. This crime was very unsophisticated, hence an opportunist burglary gone wrong. As to how she could identify him...I believe they interacted in some capacity in the past such as a lawn maintenance guy, handyman or other service person. What she could identify is his voice.

I agree, but we do know, according to hl that money was moving in the original bitcoin account, but we don't know how much, so there's that

Yes. Land Rover is the make. Range Rover is the model. (as an example, Ford = make, Bronco = model)

Judging by the over all incompetence of the crime scene and his actions, I speculate that if he killed her, he took off and didn't look back. But, if he did kill her, it was not intentional. I do not believe he killed her though.
Agree it was unintentional. Maybe the criminal had nothing to do with NG injury. She could have been attempting to flee, fell, hit her head. Perp did not know what to do, spent those 41 minutes checking NG with no response. He then decided to take her. Then what?
